Finally i think i can agree with u on something. One should not get personal. And let me tell u,i dont pick on anyone. But i feel very strongly about few things and i make sure that i make it clear.

Absolute vanne sansar ma kehi hudaina and certainly i dont indend to stand as someone who knows everything about USMLE or about anything for that matter and i havent said that anytime/anywhere.I was very well guided by my seniors and i try to do the same as far as i can, thats all.

My intention is that everyone should know the truth.I got very pissed off when i saw one guy from Japan, other from AUS and other from Germany telling us what to do and what is right for us,not knowing what is the truth and ground reality. Its never good to be Judgemental and never ever when u dont have much idea about it.Thats what i meant to say.

May be as you said to dr.ekta u felt emotional about it,the whole affair of nepalese flocking to US.I can tell you i also feel like that when it comes to some people whose sole aim in life is to cross over to US with no idea where they are landing on and once they land on to US they start bitching about their motherland.

Its a different issue for qualified people and specially so for doctors.Their social/financial status is at par with the higher strata of americans. And they have helped their motherland in many ways too.

The main issue here is that when there is over supply of doctors in the country why cant some people find other ways to learn/work.One should not have reservations about that. And i have that belief that everyone loves his/her country very much and will try to help whenever they can.

Finally Japanese one thing i was hurt most from your comment is that u compared DV pidit sangh with our friends who are trying to get the ECFMG centre back.I dont know what made u think of such wierd thing and how could you degrade such nice people trying to do something good.Xenomed is so good because there are ppl who try to help eachother. There has been lots of panic about that centre closure and events following it.Xenomed has been instrumental to stem the tide, and i can say that i am so fond of xenomed also because of it.I think u should apologise to all those people who tried to appeal for the centre.

Dear friends,

Its an important discussion going on. Yes, I agree reality is much more than anything. Experience counts a lot.
xenoMED has given us this opportunity to put our words in front of many medical students, doctors and physician.
I am learning many things through this site, hopefully will do the same for my entire career. I don't say man shouldn't be idealistic; yes of course we all have our own motto for our life, family, society and to the country.
We do have love for all but the way of approaching and viewing that aspect is different.
Its very simple and obvious that all the human being has an attitude for going for the better option. And I hope we all are doing this, we got through our SLC then join +2 in Sc. then the best option after +2 in SC was Medicine so we came to this field and now the best option is USMLE, so its obvious friends. If one say that no I will start teaching in the school of my own village after SLC either he/she is incapable or fool or extremely idealist.

If some of you fall in this category I don’t have to say but as a human I will definitely take the path that love Nepal has taken the path to go ahead rather than sitting I want to be something so that I could help my society and the country.

Remember friend, Rome was not built in a day.

  • You can get me through Lumbar Puncture.

I really appreciate and am proud of people, who want to return and serve their own country after completion of the intended educational stay abroad.
Whenever it comes to the matter related to our country, people become emotional. We all now, our country is in great short of physician, but new doctors are jobless. Different factors are playing role. We have discussed very often in this matter. All Nepalese are in depression, regardless where they are, coz they have enough of this ongoing political crisis. It seems like time is stopped for Nepal.
But I am sure many of us what to see a developed Nepal and want to actively to something for that rather than being a passive observer.

Regarding USMLE, this thread and the quoted sentence above:

I had altogether 2 posts in this thread till last one. And I have clearly mentioned I have nothing against USMLexaminee. I haven't told that one should not go for specialization. Why should I ?? I have only expressed my spontaneous view on US policy. Why are you, Love nepal, pissed off ?? I did not tell/teach you anything. This is a discussion forum, and ppl are putting views. I do not see any reason to judge or analyze somebody's personal thinking and ability.

What I would say is, we learn lot of things from discussing on a matter. Facial expression is completely missing in forum. And most of the things are understood wrong. One does not mean something so aggressively or really want to boycott, but the other understand it pinching and differently. So I request to be on Issue while replying and please do not go too personal. Once again I emphasize I am requesting, I am not teaching.

I am really pleased to know that love nepal will be returning back to serve Nepal. I am sure you will be an example for other nepalese doing residency there. Best of luck.

hi medicus,
First of all i have not finished residency here.I am starting one.I meant to say i am returning to Nepal after finishing the application and the visa procedures after getting a college/hospital to do my residency. And the second thing is after residency we should try and do fellowship and then only come back. There are lots of MDs in Nepal right now(many unemployed) but we lack superspecialists specially in Endrocrinology,Gastroenterology , cardio-Pulmonology,Immunology and Emergency medicine(I am talking about Internal Med.superspecialities, surgical side might have their own needs though, which i am not quite familiar with).
Actually we need specialists in Emergency medicine very soon because a big Emergency centre with 250 beds and 5 different ORs is opening soon in KTM(should have started construction few years ago, dunno where it is stuck though),it would be in the site where the old army hospital is,in mahankal. And i am pretty exited about the fact that if it is run by competent people it can repeat the success story of gangalal(cardiac centre) and Tilganga(eye hospital) and there will be ONE place for all kathmanduites to go when they have medical emergency.
About the rest of the things u wrote and why i became pissed off and all that. What u showed as a reason there is just one of them and if u read my posts and read posts by japanese it will be clear and i need not write it again.
Its essential for the 1.5 million nepalese who have left their motherland to be in constant touch with the people back home so as to retain their nepali individuality and in many ways give progressive ideas and share things we have learnt outside Nepal. But one thing should always be kept in mind that whatever we are saying(as nepalis abroad) should not undermine the dignity and the will of the Nepalese back home.
I feel very good when i see lots of Nepalis and Nepal lovers in different parts of the globe coming together in this site and sharing their views.Someday we will develop a network through which we can help fellow nepalis in many different ways.I appreciate your active presence here and thank you for your best wishes, you can always count on me to return to my motherland after finishing my studies and I will try to do my best in whatever way i can.
