J1 Visa: Letter of statement of need will not be issued by Health Ministry from 2007 - 08-05-2006, 06:33 PM

For the doctors with J1 Visa holder after they get the residecny in J1 status they need to have letter of statement of need/Guarantee letter, will not be issued from Health Ministry from 2007 according to a Notice publish in the Health Ministry.

This will be effective for the following subjects:
  • Internal Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • Ophthalmology
  • Pediatrics
  • Gynaecology
If this rule is implementing then no Nepalese doctor will get residency in the University program or even if they get it there is chance of losing it because of this rule brought by Health Ministry.

For this year Health Ministry is giving the statement of need/Guarantee letter on submitting the followings
  • Application
  • Citizenship
  • Medical Degree certificates
  • An approval letter from the concern authority if Government employee
Approval on agreement letter issued by the Health Ministry to work for the Nepal after residency is completed.
  • Guardian’s citizenship’s photocopy
  • Invitation letter for the residency from US medical school

What does this mean ? Is it like that if MOE won't give guarantee letter then it is wise not to give USMLE ?
Please explain with every nooks and corner.
