PM directs Home Minister to take action against YCL cadres guilty of abducting doctor

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has instructed Home Minister Krishna Sitaula to take action against YCL cadres guilty of abducting and torturing doctors and administrators of Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College.

Talking to a delegation of Professional Alliance for Peace and Democracy (PAPAD) at Baluwatar on Tuesday morning, PM Koirala said he will not compromise with law and order.

The Home Minister also promised to take immediate action. The PAPAD delegation had demanded the PM to improve security situation.

The PAPAD has launched agitation from Monday demanding that the government take action against the YCL cadres who were responsible for abducting and torturing doctors and administrators of Nobel Medical College.

Meanwhile, the YCL has also expressed public apology for being 'misled' by some people into taking action against the doctors. - Source

PM tells Sitaula to book YCL cadres in 3 days

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today directed Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to nab the Young Communist League cadres affiliated to the Maoists and begin action against them immediately.

YCL activists Sunil Sharma and Rajesh Nepal have been accused in the abduction and beating up of one doctor and four senior executives of the Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College after calling them to Kathmandu last week.

After receiving a memorandum from the representatives of different professional organisations at Baluwatar, the PM told the Home Minister to nab the YCL cadres within three days.

“We handed over the memorandum to the Prime Minister for the early arrest of those implicated in the abduction. He told the Home Minister to do the needful within three days,” a member of the struggle committee formed to take the matter to the logical conclusion said.

In the memorandum, the professionals have put forth a charter of seven demands, including ensuring security. The representatives of professionals said Sitaula also expressed commitment to arrest and take action against the guilty at the earliest.

The representatives of professionals also met Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang today and handed over the memorandum. - Source

Re: PM directs Home Minister to take action against YCL cadres guilty of abducting do

The delegation team of Professional Organization met Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Maoist supermo Prachanda at his residence in Naya Bazaar on Nov 28,2007 as I posted earliar.

It was fruitful many unclear things were made clear by the maoist leaders it was learn that the abduction and torturing of Dr. Gyanendra Giri and his team was not related to them but a illfated incidence.

One of the most important thing I learned from this meeting was that they have pass the mandate for not to collect donation and no party member will be involved in enquiring people or calling them to the party office which had been the issues in the past.

Prachanda told the delegation team that they are searching Sunil Sharma since the incidence and once they caught him they will make it public and truth will be revealed to the people.

Let see how things changes in the coming days.

Prachanda makes another promise; says Maoists will not raise donation

Maoist chairman Prachanda has made yet another promise that his party will cease from raising donations from individuals, industries and institutions.

In his meeting with a delegation of representatives of professional organizations, Wednesday morning, Prachanda said that the party will cease raising donations as it had tarnished their image.

Prachanda also promised to provide help to take action against YCL cadres involved in abduction and torture of doctors and administrators of Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College.

The delegation had earlier handed over a memorandum to Prachanda seeking action against those responsible in abduction and torture of doctors and administrators.

Meanwhile, the delegation also met with general secretary of UML Madhav Kumar Nepal on Wednesday morning.

During the meeting, Nepal said the Maoists should dissolve the YCL as it was becoming anarchic and was only hurting the image of its parent party. - Source

Professionals halt protest programmes for three days

Various professional organisations that have been carrying out joint protests against growing attacks and intimidation have called off their protest programmes for the next three days.

According to Dr. Kedar Narsingh K.C, the general secretary of Nepal Medical Association (NMA), the protest programmes have been stopped for three days following assurances by the government and top leaders of various political parties to initiate action against those involved in the abduction and ruthless torture of the managerial staff of Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College (NMC).

Representatives of various professional organisations including the NMA, Nepal Bar Association and Nepal University Teachers Association had met Prime Minister GP Koirala, Maoist chairman Prachanda, UML general secretary Mahadv Kumar Nepal and Speaker Subas Nemwang, requesting them to provide security to professionals.

The professionals had announced protests on Sunday demanding action against the abductors of NMC officials.

Valley in-charge of the Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League, Chandra Bahadur Thapa ‘Sagar’, on Monday had publicly apologised for ‘mistakenly’ abducting and torturing Dr Gyanendra Giri and a few other NMC officials.

Demanding immediate action against the YCL men involved in the incident, professional organisations affiliated with the Professionals Alliance for Peace and Democracy (PAPAD) had staged an hour-long sit-in at the main gate of Singha Durbar on Monday. They were to organise various protests throughout this week. - Source
