Kathmandu, Oct. 12: Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine has been providing one seat for India in MBBS quota from the last year and some 17 foreign students have been studying in various programmes under the Institute.
Similarly, the Institute provided a seat to Bhutan for the first time in General Medicine Department at the request of Bhutan government.
The MSc Bio-chemistry programme would be started from this year, it was said at a programme organised here today.
In the period of 36 years after the establishment of the Institute, some 1,202 students have passed in MBBS, 4,229 in Staff Nurse programme, 220 in BPH, 111 in BAMS, 75 in BMLT, 847 in BN, 33 in B-Optho., 159 in BDS and 16 in BSC (RCT), said the Institute.
The Institute has produced some 796 skilled manpower so far from the two programmes at masters� level.
In the programme organised here on the occasion of 36th anniversary of Institute�s establishment, Vice-chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Madhav Prasad Sharma provided cash prize and letter of appreciation to those teachers and employees who provided significant contribution to the campuses under the Institute.
