Free Service in Govt Health Institutions Soon: Pokhrel
Phidim, September 16
Health Minister Giriraj Mani Pokhrel on Saturday said that preparations have been made to provide free treatment and free medicines to people, who visit government-run health institutions, except district hospitals and primary health centres.
Pokhrel was speaking at a discussion on 'CA and Republican Campaign', organised by the Jana Morcha Nepal in Phidim.
He said that the provision of free treatment and free medicines will reflect the changes that have taken place after the second Jana Andolan. The Health Ministry has forwarded a programme to provide free treatment and free medicines to the council of ministers, he said, adding that the programme will be implemented once it gets cabinet approval.
Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference organised by the Panchthar chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Pokhrel said the nation will face a difficult situation if the CA polls are not held on the stipulated time.
Calling for a meeting of the senior leaders of the eight parties to discuss the 22 points raised by the Maoists, he urged the Maoists not to raise fresh demands that violate the 12-point agreement reached with the seven-party alliance. Pokhrel also inspected the Panchthar district hospital and met chiefs of government offices in the district.
