Cholera outbreak leaves a girl dead in Dolakha - 20-07-2007, 06:35 AM

July 20 - A teenager has died and seven others have been fallen seriously ill due to outbreak of cholera in a far-flung village in northern part of Dolakha district over the week.


Thirteen-years-old Swosthani, the daughter of Yam Bahadur Thakuri, a resident of Sungure in Lapelang VDC-9 passed away Friday morning while undergoing treatment at the village.
According to a health worker Jagat Bahadur Khadka, three serious patients have been referred to the district headquarters after they could be treated in the village.

Khadka also said the patients apparently suffering from cholera as they showed no sign of improvement even after administering medicines and saline water throughout the night.

According to correspondent, an entire locality in the village has been affected following the outbreak of the gastro-enteritis disease. District Health Office has informed that a team of health workers and some medicines have been dispatched to the affected village.
