A three-day International Trauma Symposium, reportedly the first of its kind to be held in developing countries, will begin from Friday at Nepal Medical College.
Trauma surgeons and delegates from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, along with those from Nepal, will participate in the programme.
"Local problems will be discussed at length with emphasis on local adaptation," said Prof Dr RK Shah, organising chairman. According to him, the educational programme was specially designed for the under-financed and developing countries. As many as 100 surgeons, doctors and students are expected to participate in the programme.
As many as 12 trainers will conduct training, Shah said, adding that the symposium was aimed at bringing awareness among the local trauma surgeons on Principles and Practice of Fracture Management through presentations, demonstrations and discussions.
Shah claimed the training-***-workshop would be an opportunity to the Nepali orthopaedic surgeons to learn modern skills to manage fractures in their own institutions. The programme has been sponsored by the Socio-economic Committee of the Association of Ortheo-Synthesis Foundation, Switzerland.
