| Hospital for neurological care inaugurated -

KATHMANDU, April 26 - Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Wednesday inaugurated the National Institute of Neurological and Allied Science, the neurological hospital that offers total care for all brain and spinal disorders.
"The unique strength of this hospital is its large and most advanced critical care unit," said Prof Dr Upendra Devkota, renowned neurologist and owner of the hospital.
"And treatment in the hospital comes in just about 5 - 10 percent of the cost compared to the cost of similar treatments in the Western world."
According to him the hospital provides complete care for severe trauma. He also said the establishment of rehabilitation center is a must to complete the hospital as a neurology center, besides developing expertise in training and research.
Prime Minister Koirala assured that the government would help the hospital establish the rehabilitation center. "I will give my total support because such infrastructure is a must in a country like Nepal that has huge brain drain problem in the health sector," he said, adding, "But the hospital should also focus on producing students in the related field."
The hospital has 80 beds, including 12 critical care beds. |
