Bhadrapur, Aug. 22: Some enraged local youths vandalized the Mechi Zonal Hospital and beat up a doctor there alleging sheer negligence on the part of health workers of the hospital, which they said, led to death of a new-born baby.

An infant, given birth by Indira, a daughter of Uttamjang Sijapati; a resident of Bhadrapur-13 died in the hospital immediately after its birth.

Enraged by the death of infant, the irate local youths vandalized the hospital and manhandled Dr. Jayakumar Thakur accusing him of causing its death through his negligence, the hospital source states.

The infant is reported to have died four minutes after its birth. Her family members complained the concerned doctor attending upon her did not turn up for Indira's assistance despite the calls by nurses many times.

However, the meeting among the victims, hospitals officials and members of hospital is underway regarding the incident and the hospital is functioning normally.
