SINDHULI, Aug. 10: Sindhuli District Hospital, in coordination with Lions Club, Leo Club, Blue Alpine Club, and Red Cross branch, organised a plastic surgery camp recently.
A total of 42 - patients with deformed body parts took advantage from the surgery camp.
Ashok Shrestha, secrtary at Lions Club in Sindhuli said that 14 hair-leaped, two burnt cases were provided free surgery treatment. He said that six patients with serious condition were referred to Morang for further treatment.
A team of ten doctors including two foreign experts had provided the treatment.
Bhim bahadur Ale, a resident of Ranichuri VDC ?8, expressed his happiness when he got his son treated at the camp. His son Nabin, 8, had his arms attached to the chest when he was severely burnt in an accident.
"I was unable to take my son out for the treatment due to financial problem but now I am happy that my son got treatment free of cost,"said Ale.
Meanwhile in Lalitpur, the only mental hospital of Nepal located in Lagankhel has been facing myriad of problems these days.
Though the hospital is central level, it has equipped no emergency services.
Moreover, the hospital has no adequate human resource.
The post to three senior mental disease specialists and one non-gazetted first class officer are lying vacant for the past 19 months.
Neither the hospital is in the position to fill the vacant posts nor the concerned Ministry has paid any attention to address the problems in the hospital.
Director of the hospital Dr. Kapil Dev Upadhaya argued that the mental hospital have been facing serious problems owing to the failure on the part of the government to develop all health sectors simultaneously. -
