| B.P. Cancer Hospital providing service -

CHITWAN, July 21: Patients have been receiving regular services at the B.P. Memorial Cancer Hospital, Chitwan, despite protest programmes staged by the doctors for the last few days.
Few doctors had started protest programmes for the last few days complaining roof leakage in operation theater and disagreement to the attempt of stationing head office of the hospital in Kathmandu.
The New Technical Water Proofing Company has started resoling of the roof of the hospital since July 5 according to the tender call of the Hospital Management, Engineer of the Hospital Bishnu Bashyal said.
Stating that the water leakage from the roof is not a big problem, Acting Deputy Director of the Hospital Dr Laxmi Narayan Singh expressed his commitment that discipline should be maintained at the hospital and no obstacles should be laid in such sensitive sector as health.
Locals accused that the agitating doctors have been treating the patients opening a community hospital nearby the hospital whereas the doctors of the hospital disagree with this accusation.
Locals have appealed to the doctors to be serious because critical patients of cancer only come to the hospital.
Cancer patients have been taking benefits from the 100-bed hospital which was established as a Central Cancer hospital of Nepal in 2056 BS with the assistance of the Government of China.
In Khotang, medicines will be distributed from the Khotang District
Hospital for the next three years.
According to the agreement reached between the District Health Office and the Doctors Sans Frontiers on Thursday, decision has been made to distribute all the medicines free of cost except for the surgery in the District Hospital for the next three years.
According to the Convenor of the Doctors Sans Frontiers of Holland, Tobius Balrusted, the free service will reach out from the hospital to the outlying villages.
A great relief will be made to the local people from the agreement, said Balrusted.
Meanwhile, a youth died due to diarrhoea and vomiting at the Nuwakot Distric Hospital today.
The deceased is 19-year-old Krishna Neupane of Belkot VDC-5.
The number of gastroenteritis patients has increased in the district with the onset of monsoon.
Chief of the District Hospital, Bikas Lamichhane said that upto seven persons sufering from gastroenteritis have been coming to the hospital daily.
