HIV status in Nepal till 2005: Total Adult=70000, Adult Prevalence (15-49)=0.55%, Number of Women (15-49) LWHA=15,310 (22%), HIV Prevalence rate in IDUs=32.7%, HIV prevalence rate in sex worker=3.8%, HIV prevalence rate in client of SW=2.1%. The latest U.N. report shows that 65 million people have been infected with HIV since it was first identified 25 years ago. Twenty five million people have died of AIDS.

Model Hospital refutes news report

Kathmandu, Feb. 8: Kathmandu Model Hospital has expressed regrets over the news report by Nepal 1 Television on Thursday about the involvement of Model Hospital in kidney smuggling.

The news report had mentioned about the Model Hospital at Chabahil and the hospital in a press statement on Friday said that there was no Model hospital at Chabahil and the Kathmandu Model Hospital was situated at the Exhibition Road and had no branch at any other place.

The hospital said the news report had linked its name in the news report that was false, incorrect and the said television channel was not aware and serious about the authenticity and truth of the news report it broadcast.

It said that the hospital had always remained true to its duties and responsibility and the medical ethics. - Source
