CHARITABLE DONATION PROGRAMME HELD IN KATHMANDU

A charitable donation programme was held in Pashupati Briddhashram, Gaushala, Kathmandu on 30th December 2006 under NDA(UK) banner in the initiative of NDA(UK) Charity Coordinator Dr Shabin Joshi. The programme was graced by the chief guest deputy prime minister Mr Amik Sherchan, NMA Chairman Dr Sudha Sharma and other dignitaries. The chief guest gave away following:

1. Four colour television sets (two 21 inches and two 15 inches) and tables for the same to the residents of Pashupati Briddhashram (worth £500).

2. Cash/cheque to Paropakar Organisation (£500+500).

3. Cash/cheque to Sagarmatha Health Foundation (Ashraya Project) (£300+300).

4. Cash to Chief Guest's charity Rs 25,000 (~£184) handed over by ex NMA Chairman Dr Shankar Bahadur Singh Rajbhandari.

The chief guest declared that the extra money given to his charity will be utilised to build a 'Omawadi Girls Hostel' in a remote village of Okharbot in Myagdi.

As you recall that it was decided in the NDA AGM, Watford to donate this year's charity money to Paropakar Organisation, Pashupati Briddhashram and Drs' Projects.

Dr Shabin Joshi highlighted that NDA(UK) have so far successfully donated more than currency equivalent of Rs 5,000,000 to different charities in Nepal and the UK till date and we look forward to continuing the trend. In his address, Dr Joshi also mentioned NDA(UK)'s monetary and ideological support for the cause of restoration of democracy. Both distinguished guests acknowledged it. Dr Joshi also took an opportunity to visit Ashraya Project and Paropakar.

The programme would not have been a grand success without the kind cooperation and coordination of Mr Rohit Man Pradhan (who acted as an anchor for the whole programme) and Mr Sugam Rajbhandari (who helped to organise the whole programme).

NDA(UK) would like to heartfully thank all the members who kindly and generously donated for the cause.
