HIV status in Nepal till 2005: Total Adult=70000, Adult Prevalence (15-49)=0.55%, Number of Women (15-49) LWHA=15,310 (22%), HIV Prevalence rate in IDUs=32.7%, HIV prevalence rate in sex worker=3.8%, HIV prevalence rate in client of SW=2.1%. The latest U.N. report shows that 65 million people have been infected with HIV since it was first identified 25 years ago. Twenty five million people have died of AIDS.

Bhoruka Public Welfare Trust is a national level NGOs working in five states of India including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal. Its focuses are blood banking, HIV/AIDS, Human Trafficking and Reproductive and Child health.

Bhoruka is selected as Mainstreaming Resource Unit (MRU) of Bihar by UNDP.

The UNDP-funded support to the mainstreaming efforts of the national programme proposes to work with government and non-government entities by strengthening systems, strengthening capacities and building synergies and partnerships. It proposes to work with various levels of the government including district administration, women’s federations and youth to ensure greater participation of community leaders, NGOs and local government in the HIV prevention activities. Initially, MRU will focus on 6 districts of Bihar- Katihar, Madhubani, Purba Champaran, Paschim Champaran, Purnia and Sitamarhi. To facilitate strengthening of capacities, MRU will provide regular, sustained and high quality technical assistance to SACS and the project’s state level functionaries and partners through the project period of 5 years and have to work with close co-ordination with the State Mainstreaming Unit in SACS. Bhoruka is looking for Team Leader for its MRU, Bihar

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Have to work in close coordination with project manager of Bhoruka Public Welfare Trust.
• Provide overall management responsibility for all components of project activities
• Managing the team.
• Ensure the project is managed in accordance to the approved yearly work-plans
• Ensure that all project activity and financial reporting is done in accordance to donor guideline
• ensure planed targets
• identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments
• maintain strong relationships with SACS, SMU, stake holders, partners and collaborators and any other associated stakeholder
• represent Bhoruka and the project to the public and donor community
• Maintain up to date information on all govt schemes and their implementation in the state in an easily retrievable and usable format.
• Develop and maintain sustained advocacy relationships with policy makers, opinion leaders in the state, especially those belonging to local government departments, non HIV CSOs, and industry.
• Develop and where required, implement, advocacy processes with local govt departments, non HIV CSOs and industry partners.
• Provide logistical support to the SMU where required.
• Any other responsibilities assigned by the organisations.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

• Post Graduate, preferably in Social Science with 4-6 years experiences of Project Implementation.
• Good MS Office skills.
• Ability to work with sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner
• Excellent organizational skills
• Good negotiation skills
• Good communication skills both verbally and in written form
• Willingness to work in a multicultural environment, and contribute to organizational team building
• Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Ability to multi-task and work on several big and small projects at one time
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks, excellent time-management, problem-prevention, and problem solving skills
• Analytical skills, Computing, Problem Solving, Leadership Skills, Methodical, Adaptable
• Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
• Flexible and mature approach with ability to work unsupervised
• Fluency in English, Hindi (both written and oral). Working knowledge of local languages of target districts would be an added asset.
