About human or humanity? - 16-02-2007, 02:30 AM

Even a few years ago i had not imagined that one day i will be a medical student.I had no plan to bocome a doctor. Now here i am at this stage where i found myself over these thousands of faces who are waiting me as their wonud-healer.Of course i will effort with all of my knowledge and skills to make them feel painless, but i am puzzeled, to whom should i serve, HUMAN OR HUMANITY?
Few months ago i was in Kathmandu, the city of my family, the city of my friends and the city of my relatives. But now i am here so far from my country to fullfill the dreams of myself and my of parents. But on thinking with a profound vision i came to know that actually we, the medical students are the dreams of all those nepales, all those poors, all those hungry men,all those diseased one and all those hurted by the wound of poverty.
I am afraid after getting my degree i would gain the knowledge only to fight against the disease. But more than the disease its demand of my country that one should fight against the poverty, hunger and the calamites of the low ecomomic burden.I often ask question to myself that in such a circumtances to whom should i serve,HUMAN OR HUMANITY?

That's great, at least you thought about this matter. Its really a difficult question whether to serve Human or Humanity.

In my opinion,we are the future doctors as well as the future of the nation, so we have to perform two main duties- one as a doctor and the other as citizen of this nation. So being a doctor you serve the human and as a good citizen try to do something for the humanity which you can be proud of.....

Hey friend, every man has his own role in life, own duty to perform. One cannot do all the things in his own. A doctor's role is to fight the diseases and help the people. Treating the disease also can help a lot in development of the people and the country. There are people with duties to fight naturl calmities, poverty, hunger. We should perform our duty well and they should perform their's. This is how a country develops.

Dear Kirakamila,
I Know what you feel. You took me to my past days. Keep your chin up and do your duty well. You can touch the sky. Our profession is to serve human as well as humanity. You just be diligent. I am sure you can serve both human and humanity. Best of luck.
