Antioxidants and Diabetes

1 Adequate amount of Vitamin A,C,D,E are required for normal intestinal function and these vitamins help reduce the oxidative stress in Diabetes.

2 Vit.E preserve endothelial function and reduce vascular complications and inhibit development of atherosclerosis.

3 Vit.C reduce the monocyte adhesion to endothelial cells and inhibit LDL oxidation and decreases Nitric oxide oxidation, thus improve vasodilatation.

4 Vit. D affect vascular remodelling.

Thus combining the existing therapeutic agents with antioxidants complement the mechanism of decreasing oxidative stress.

Obesity and Type I diabetes

According to a research at Wake Forest University School of Medicine ,obesity may accelerate onset of the Type I Diabetes in some patients.

But it was observed only in some patients with compromised pancreatic function.

As the birth weight decreases , the age at which Type I Diabetes appears is delayed.
