The latest U.N. report shows that 65 million people have been infected with HIV since it was first identified 25 years ago. Twenty five million people have died of AIDS.

Concrete steps to increase the number of people with access to safe drinking-water and basic sanitation in today's Europe were discussed this week when representatives from the 20 countries that have ratified the Protocol on Water and Health to the Convention on Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, met in Geneva, Switzerland on 17 January 2007.
