This is for the information of all Indian students who are planning to leave for China soon to join MBBS programme in a Chinese medical college. Please be warned that Indian students who study MBBS in a Chinese medical college will not be allowed to sit in the Screening Test in India. Medical Council of India (MCI) is issuing Eligibility Certificate to students who are planning to go to China. However, the grant of the Eligibility Certificate does not mean that the Chinese MBBS will be accepted in India. In fact, it is mentioned on the Eligibility Certificate that the certificate is conditional and does not grant any right to the student. The Note on the backpage of the certificate states that students who complete their MBBS study from a foreign medical institution which is not included in the schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, will NOT be allowed to sit in the Screening Test. This means that Indian students, who are going to China with the express intention of returning and practising in India, will not be able to practise as a doctor in India. So, please don't WASTE five years and lakhs of rupees by studying MBBS in China. Also, don't get carried away by the testimonials posted by students currently studying in China. No international student, either from India, Nepal or Pakistan, is happy studying MBBS in China. However, some of these students encourage potential students to take admission in a chinese medical college because they get paid by the college. Now, when they stand to make money, they will naturally say good things about China! | | New Member | | Posts: 2 Thanks: 0

Janpal, you are your best judge. You should take advice from all but the decision should come from yourself. I do not believe that institution has much role, what really counts is how determined you are and how much you can strive. The colleges in Nepal have their own pros and cons and same is with the colleges in China. A small example, as posted in the NAMS results thread, I personally know Dr. Robin, who has recently topped the NAMS entrance by a huge margin. He is from the same batch of Bharatpur Medical College as Dr. TPO (I will use only initials), who had to sit many times even for the NMC licensing exams. Now just sit back and think, the two went to the same college, studied in the same class, read the same books in the library, were lectured by the same set of Professors, ate the same in the canteen, had load-sheddings on the same days..... If institution had some role, probably both would be of equal caliber now. So, in this field, what really counts is your DETERMINATION. But another thing you should not forget is medical field is a field that requires public relations. You know the public of Nepal, they are full of pre-conceived ideas. You probably also know what are the pre-conceived ideas of Chinese products.
So, the bottom line is you are your own best judge !!! | | Senior Member | | Posts: 126 Thanks: 0

Hello ! Almost all people ( friends, relatives etc...) whom I met (meeting) after I decided to head to china, were/are completely shocked at my decision ! They had same words 'china ma padhai ramro chhaina, if you are going then you are totally gone'. When I asked them 'What are your points on it?', they were speechless ! Personally, what I felt/feel is, they are merely PARROTING ! But after I logged in at xenomed, I feel like there are ppl who can really present the ground realities and prerequsites for studying medicine...... I am simply OVERWHELMED !........ Thank you all for your responses !..... Somebody has rightly said,'All horses eat same grass but only one runs fastest'. We'd better look at our capacities and dedication than cheaply blaming 'Grass and Pasture' ! I am going china next month...yah ! I am taking it as a challenge and I know I can accomplish it ! Be the 'fastest' will be my goal for coming years and I am totally convinced that I MUST CARRY ON ! My decision for MBBS in china is neither an over confidence nor a show off ! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
