where abouts are you thinking of persuing your further education?

i personally work and pay my own tuition fees, and i have been doing so for the past 3 years, and my sister does the same, not that my folks can't afford to but we choose to make our own way through med school ourselves.

but it's something we can do due to the fact that our tuition fees are affordable, we have local tuition fees as supposed to you, if you go abraod will have to pay international fees. why would you want your parents fork out ur master fees when you can work as a dr with your mbbs degree and pay your way through??

i guess you have to work out who and what comes first in your life, are you willing to put yourself first, before all your siblings and family--rob them of their opportunity to do well cause all the money as been spent on you? isn't it enough for your folks to pay your tuition fees uptil MBBS and then you make your own way...why do you need extra income help? soz, i'm just speculating.

can i ask how much money in total should be invested in med school in nepal. from what my friend says, it's 16 lakh straight donation. does that cover all the 5 yrs tuition fees or do you still have added fees on top of that?

I think you didn't read the reply by "love nepal"

for USMLE you don't neet to give TOEFL but for PLAB yes you have to score more than 7.0 in IELTS.

As DD is a Medical Student in UK, she is giving the true picture - its very very tough.

Current option is USMLE which is very tough to get through. You need to be very hard working person.

Anyway life isn't easy in any profession.

USMLE is United States Medical Licensing Examination, much of the USMLE info has not been updated in xenoMED. However you can go through the USMLE thread under Medical Examination lots of hot discussion is going on.

Basically after your graduation when you pass USMLE you will be eligible to do your post graduate (residency) in USA. It is one of the toughest exam in the medical profession and has the most lucrative future.

Docs have great scope in Nepal but they have less/no scope in Kathmandu. patient to dac ratio is still very high in the country but the main problem lies on maoist prob n the poor management of the government. If there is peace everywhere n government provide proper salary and scolarships to "Durgam Kshetra" then the centralized health manpower can be decentralized and many will get the jobs.

hi medica,
now that the discussion have gone so far, i guess you have got enough information about what u wanted to know.
if i have to say anything about the scope i say it depends upon u, how good u are, if u are capable then definitely u will have great oppurtunities,
and regarding whether to join medicine or any other field, i say they are all the same, none is better thatn the other, everything depends upon u..., u study well and the same subject becomes good.
