A Royal Summon to Me

One day, I was sitting on my room, a phone came to me; the person on the other side of the phone introduced himself as Mr. …, the chief secretary of the Royal palace. He said me that king has summoned me immediately to palace.

I got amazed, I got surprised, I couldn’t speak, and I remained thinking to myself. ‘Hello!’ ‘Hello’ when he repeated his voice then only I answered, ‘yes sir!’.'Well !’ he was about to say something, but I couldn’t understand his voice, because just a thundering sound of a chopper passed over my house, when that sound became fader , then only I could hear him, ‘o.k.! I had already sent a helicopter to pick u up their’ he said and put down his receiver. ‘Why he called me!’ I again started to think about the possible cause of king calling me.

"I was merely a simple citizen, a simple medical doctor, it’s the thing of beyond my imagination, forget about me, neither my family, nor even any of my distance relative have any kind of link to the palace, nor I am involved to any political organization nor I am any kind of renowned personality."

"King calling me for his health check up was also the thing of just imagination, why should he call the young doctor like me for that purpose, he easily can go to any top hospital of the world , his one word would be sufficient for who’s who senior doctor in Nepal to attend palace."

I could guess that that chopper landed in army barrack, which is situated near my house, every chopper landing and taking up from that barrack always disturbed us and our neighbor. While I was about to see from window towards the barrack, door bell of my house rang suddenly, When I opened the door I nearly scared to see some three armyman , one carrying rifle and two were in just combat dress, a relatively tall and handsome army among them step toward me and said, ‘hi! Doctor, namaste!’, ‘I am captain …, you probably got information already, so are u ready?’ he said to me.

‘Wait a few minute please!’ I said and I hurriedly came to my room, I searched the cloth to wear, but just only in the morning I sent all my formal cloth to laundry, so I just wore a jeans paint, a black t-shirt and a sport shoe, just checked me in mirror and came down. There was a Green color Mazda pick up van in front my house; I sat on the back sit of the van. When we reached the barrack,the chopper was in ready state for flight, I got out from the van , a army man came running and carried me towards chopper.

Immediately the chopper took up, it was gradually taking height, but inside me, I was still searching the cause for my summoned to palace . ‘I am not royalist too, rather I strongly opposed continuity of monarchy in Nepal, and during discussion within my circle too, I always used to advocate for abolition of monarchy from Nepal. I saw from the window of chopper, I could see far view of Katmandu valley, in the mean time, the pilot informed that we were going to land on Naryanhiti royal palace within 5 minute and temperature of the Katmandu valley is about 24 degree Celsius.

Finally chopper landed inside Narayanhiti palace, I got down from chopper, I saw that king Gyanendra was standing alone on the green lawn, in front a bungalow, on which was written ‘ Tribhuvan sadhan’. We were walking towards king; I looked around me, since it was my first visit to royal palace. There was a big ‘hot air balloon’ little far from where king was standing , on whose bottom the gas was igniting, and on the side of that balloon, I saw two very pretty, pretty girl , who were really beautiful, and seems in mood of waiting somebody.

A royal summoned to me-2
Super ultra light space shuttle

Then, I greeted the king, when I reached near him and he smiled over me. In the mean time king’s chief secretary came and directed us towards that hot air balloon. I was completely unaware of what was happening.
When we were going towards the balloon, I asked to the chief secretary, “Mr. Chief Secretary! where are we going?” he answered, “in the space”. “You are going to the space! How? I exclaimed. “His majesty and you are going to the space through that space craft” he said.

“Where is the space craft?” I asked. “There is the space craft!” he said, showing to the hot air balloon. “You call that hot air balloon, a space craft!! I said. “No doctor, that is not a ‘hot air balloon’, this is the ‘space craft’ itself” he said. But I couldn’t believe to my self and asked him, “how could this simple hot air balloon be space craft?!”

“Well!” he said, “look! I am telling you a very secret thing, and it’s a very very secret thing”“mind you; it’s really a very secret thing”. “It is actually a super ultra light space shuttle; it was recently built by Austrian scientist under one of the secret project of the Austrian government”. “It was gifted by them to our crown prince Paras, on his recent visit to Austria, to hand over the two rare one horned rhino of ‘royal chitwon national park’, to one of the Austrian national zoo”. “Austrian government, so… pleased with our crown prince paras, that they gifted him this rare invention”. “Even American doesn’t have such kind of space shuttle”, he said. “Since, it is ultra light and easy to fit and unfit, we didn’t have that much difficulty to bring it here secretly, and except some of us in the palace, no body knows about this space shuttle” he added.

“Well, that’s all right, but why did u call me here?” I asked. “Well doctor” he said, “actually crown prince Paras himself planned to go on this voyage to space, but u know what happened all of a sudden!” “What happened?” I asked curiously, since things were then going to be interesting and conspicuous. “He developed cholera, he is vomiting and only having diarrhea since yesterday evening. Since, he couldn’t go to the space and according to royal tradition the programme once planned should not be cancelled, that must be performed any how, his majesty himself decided to go to space. There is already a team of royal physician treating him, inside the palace itself. We called you, since, our royal physician told us that there must be at least one medical officer to take care of the king during his voyage to the space, because cholera is a communicable disease and there is a possibility of king having it too”, he answered. “I understood that, but why should u call me specifically? How did u know about me? How did u get my address?” I asked him because I was not convinced with his answers.

He said the secret service unit of palace referred me for accompanying king. According to chief secretary, they selected me because; they found me free, not being involved to any where. He told me that was king’s criteria that the doctor, who accompanies him, should be fully free. Because the king doesn’t want to hamper the regular service being provided to the people rather he choose to go abroad for his regular health check up, so that doctor here in Nepal wouldn’t be disturbed to treat their patients. He said, that was my luck to get this opportunity, because it is due to lack of time they couldn’t be able to bring foreign doctor.

I couldn’t agree with king’s such awkward criteria and belief but I self contained all my feelings because that wouldn’t be wise to make argument with one of the most powerful person of the palace.

“Who are those girls Mr. chief secretary?” I asked him showing towards the girl who were standing by the side of that so called space craft. As I mentioned earlier also, they were really very beautiful, my eyes were sticking since then to one of them, who had brown eye, I found her exactly the same what I had imagined about a girl who would be my fiancée. “Oh! They are the crew member of this expedition” he said. “But, they are so young and how could they be the astronaut at this age!” I expressed my doubt about them being the astronaut, who will have our life in their hands. “Don’t worry doctor, they are very experienced and fully trained, he tried to quell me. “Perhaps, they could be!” I said to myself.

At the mean time, one question struck my mind and I asked to the chief secretary, “Mr. Secretary, why did you select such young and immature looking girls as crew member for such a VIP expedition? You could have chosen more matured, experienced astronaut like Mr. Alexander Rokosky. I took A. Rokosky’s name, a Russian born NASA astronaut, who was on the news headline, when he successfully landed the Discovery space shuttle, despite a very serous technical problem on the shuttle when it was just about to enter the earth’s atmosphere. It was due to similar technical error that the last Columbia space shuttle crashed, while returning from space.

“Well doctor, what to say, we all were to choose the astronauts like you said, but crown prince Paras insisted that the crew members should be young and beautiful girls. Then also you should not be worry because, they are among the most experienced female astronauts of the Austrian Space Agency [ASA], he tried to quell my fear.

Then, the chief secretary introduced me to them and we exchanged greetings to each other.

“Well, I must tell you that , this is the top secret expedition of our royal palace, and I expect you to be remain confidential, you should not tell this to anybody , at any cost” he said. “If u leak even a slightest of this information, your life might be in danger, remember this, because you know how danger our king and crown prince is” he threatened me in his soft voice. During those entire conversation between the chief secretary and me, king was completely quite, he seems of being thinking to himself and didn’t gave any attention towards us. The chief secretary bow down in front of king, wishes him for the successful expedition and well being of the king himself during entire expedition. He gave us a wave too, and took himself few steps back and stood there waiting for us to take up.

We went inside the space craft, but to my dismay, that was more similar to a hot air balloon than a space craft. A sense of fear arouse inside me, as well as I was thrilling inside, remembering the space voyage which I was going to experience soon.


Then, suddenly …
