Will u plz replace KUCMS by KUSMS.....it isn't Kathmandu University College Of Medical Sciences...rather it is Kathmandu University School Of Medical Sciences

Did you see any changes? Yes it is, in the official web site it says Kathmandu University School of Medical Science and its internet explore bar it displays Kathmandu University Medical School Home but in FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) list it says College of Medical Science.

All the info that has been listed in the xenoMED has been taken from FAIMER.

Info is different in different place like FAIMER, official web site and internet explore bar, therefore please update us on the following points

1. Obviously official home page would be final but ask them to update that info in FAIMER then we will update in the xenoMED as well.
2. What is the abbreviation for Kathmandu University School of Medical Science because Kathmandu University Medical Journal says its KUMS.
3. And please give us your identity if you don't want to give it in the public you can contact us for authenticity.

Among different schools of kathmandu university, Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences(KUSMS) is the one under which Kathmandu UNiversity Medical School( KUMS) and Dhulikhel Medical Institute( DMI) lies.MBBS programme is conducted under KUMS.
(I am one of the medical students studying at KUMS.)

Thank you very much for this info. That means KUMS and DMI are affiliated to KUSMS.

Well then what is the official abbreviation used is it KUMS or KUSMS and what about the FAIMER info because it is FAIMER whose recognizes graduate of KUMS (KUSMS) at international community. For. e.g. to appear in the USMLE exam your college has to be listed in the FAIMER.

What do you say for college of medical science appeared in FAIMER and Medical School in your college's official website.

Beside this since you said KUMS is under KUSMS we are not concern about parent institute we are concern about the medical school then what is the rationale of using KUSMS instead of KUMS in www.xenomed.com/forums/kums/ link?

Since your are studying there could you talk to the authority and varify the above comments beside this latest KUMJ (Kathmandu University Medical Journal) use SOMS as an abbreviation for your college.

Above all Prof. C. R. Pant Associate Dean is one of the Editorial Member of the KUMJ. I believe some of this issues will be worth discussing with your authority.

I would like to make something clear about the authentic name and abbreviation of my medical school. Suman had been interestingly participating in the discussion with the xenomed administration.
To talk about the name, around 10 months ago, it was Kathmandu University Medical School (KUMS). Then, KU teaching hospital, Dhulikhel hospital (DHKUTH) took the responsibility of running kums in terms of finance and administration. Then, the affiliated institutes of Dhulikhel hospital, i.e. Dhulikhel Medical Institute , with kathmandu university came within the Kathmandu university mainstream. So, KUMS and dmi were collectively called KU school of medical sciences (KUSMS). And kums was called KUSMS-MBBS and dmi is called KUSMS-DMI. But, recently, student body of kums has officially declared that kusms-mbbs has again been restated to KUMS. And every official works will be in the name of kums. But when DMI is involved, They are collectively known as KUSMS. This is what all i know and its authentic. Rest, we can discuss if anyone has any queries...later...

YEah , he is right. KUMS is under KUSMS .And KUSMS is under KU.
