hostel or to rent a flat

hi..
just wonderin ,which option is better...staying in a hostel or to rent a flat in Duwakot near college??? this one is actually for one of my fren who recently got admission over there...

This is something amazing and glad to know that your helping your friend why didn't your friend ask this quesiton? Anyway at some aspect hostel is good at some aspect stying outside.

For girl if security is good outside it is also good for boys both options are good I guess. But staying in the hostel has various advantages than staying outsidel.

I go for hostel as you are from all the unseen tension like giving rent, house owner kich kich and after all KMC takes the responsibility if anything happens. Its just my personal opinion lets hear what other say.

Dear sujanmj, as for my view, i prefer Hostel. May be I like hostel coz I stayed there and I enjoyed my stay there and you can say i don't know the good side of staying in a flat but now I do stay in a flat at Sinamangal and I say, its tough. Hostel was far better.
Moreover, Duwakot hostel was a place full of fun during our time but now they say that its not as it was. Well, Its upon you to make a place good or bad. But the main advantage there is the support of the seniors during your first year exams when you are seeking for some guidance. Other one is as Alpine said, there is no kichkich of the landlords and no mesh and so and so. So, in my view, If you are staying in Duwakot, Hostel is better.

In my opinion staying outside is better...
b'coz.

1. You have to pay less money (Hostel Rs. 2000 and you should share room with your partner but outside you can get single room in Rs. 1200)
2. Many students stay outside and the community too forms outside hostel. I enjoyed my time with my friends in our flat.
3. KMC Hostel is not good in infrastructure..you can make a visit and look yourself..(although in hostel you can enjoy your stay with friends and infrastr. doesn't matter much)
4. Staying outside..gives you two different locations - one your college and the other your flat. You can enjoy both of them.

Hostel gives you too many things - great company all time, library at your doorstep, sports activity.
You can get these facilities too outside. So, choose yourself......

i stayed in both places...hostel pani outside pani..and frankly both were fun...
hostel obviously no tension of rent and this and that... and u got frens pani.. well thts wat they say tara k jus coz u stay outside don't mean u got no frens at all...
in hostel we used to play all nite ...cricket tht too.. but exams time everyone is serious.. tara exams ko bela outside is also serious..
jus one drawback i see in stayin outside ... damn dirty water and kmc ain't doin nuthin bout it.

yea so outside u got to pay the rent and elec bill and the washin clothes thing but there is an advantage to that coz when u come to sinamangal u got to do all tht here so its practice atleast in duwakot the landlords let u out on atleast months rent when its late.... so its practice for sinamangal.

Fun is all round u u jus got to take the rite ones
so for me considering all that i wud opt for outside coz the water very dirty.
haha..but if ur house is in sinamangal or close by then i think it wud b hostel coz then here u won't have to look for rented plc.

i agree with sushilonline ...security is not a matter for any one in duwakot..as for my experience there..the hostel isnt good.but for ur own satisfaction u can take a look at the hostel.u can even consult ur senior ...most of them who have left the hostel!!

Dear Orthodox, Security is ofcourse a matter in Duwakot. May be you have not faced security problems during your stay there but we did and staying in the hostel was what we had in our better side. There are cases when there have been clashes with the locals, locals accusing and getting over the students for useless causes, not all but soem are there and we faced them during our stay. So, security should be a matter of concern there. For girls, I say Hostel should be the first preference. For boys, its better there.

Well, its my view and it can differ between individuals.
About the hostel being good, its just you got to make it good. The walls are dirty and it was made by the students, its not that it was never maintained. Well that never mattered us coz we enjoyed & loved our stay there. The library down stairs, classes just few steps down, canteen anytime you get hungry, games when you are bored and most of all seniors and friends when you have any problems with your studies or anything.

I never stayed at hostel in Dwkt...!!!
n now I say that it was the only best thing I did while studying Basic Science.
That best thing followed many good experiences..

Nomatter we had bad moments wid the locals during parties. But staying in rent was too good.
In our time there was no good management of Hostel. I agree Razz dai that we students are responsible for making hostel good, but there is an alternative to stay in rent and that is cost effective then that must be best choice...

Moreover, put in mind that those locals where u will be staying as "derawala", they are so.. so.. mean (some)... as an example we had to face a month of college closure at Dwkt.And we had to come in Sinamangal.At that period they were the people who threatened some of us.

so I suggest, try one and if u dont like it.. u choose other..like start staying at hostel from the begining then later if u dont like shift to rent..
last word.. staying at rent was great part at Basic Science

I don't know about KMC but I loved my hostel though the management is always a problem in all the hostels. Well, I say, you love your home how inconvenient it may be to live in. Those who have stayed in a flat, of course you will like the place you stayed in. SO, there is no comparision but you can campare the good and bad sides.
