paying 26 lakh at a time without installment is just like paying 30 lakh or more. what if a student think he can't complete his course after 1 year then does kmc return the remaining sum? these big sums for medical study gives pressure for student to earn money when they become a doctor. In such condition can we expect a doctor giving selfless service?

Yes you are correct genious!

The sum that will be after five and half year later ! And without specialization ??? There will be further investment needed! This is something beyond one can expect to earn or refund in their life!

It is huge amount of money.

If somebody is money oriented or business thinking, they should know that education is never never is investment! There is no such exact return in economic way. So if one has interest and there is money, that's no problem. It is something like "come on"! Take it easy! Otherwise, there will be big upset or get indulged with any kind of practice and earn money.

It is sad to see that education is so expensive.

Best wishes,
mati

Re: KMC getting richer - 15-09-2008, 06:19 AM

Dear all,

I think it is never late to discuss any matter. So here I jot down few points which I felt.

Agreeing with all, I say the amount is huge! (26 lacs 4 thousands at once!)

Next, the college might be thinking of getting rich from the interest that comes with the sum they gather rt away!!!

The fact that KMC's seats have been reduced because it did NOT fulfill NMC's requirements for 100 seats means that it needs to increase its facilities and decrease its shortcomings, NOT increase its profits and the tuition fees!!!

The process is totally unfair, right from the KU. This year KU did NOT mark students as list A, B, or C. This means there is no quality control who gets to be a doctor and who treats a patient in future. KMC had started a new tradition of looking at applicant-students' marks of SLC, ISc and so on and select till last year. For transparency purpose, and fairly, it used to enlist all the vital information of academic qualifications in notice board (fair enough!) for everyone to see. But tis year, u come and pay, u get it.
YOU ARE BUYING THAT WAY FROM ANY ORDINARY SHOP, NOT APPLYING A MEDICAL COLLEGE.

This needs to be changed immediately and all education, esp medical medical education NOT be taken as profit-making business. Else results can be devastating for everyone, including the whole country, in immediate, near and far future!

I am not against KMC or medical education. I stated the facts and my opinions. I am open to discussions. Thank you.

I am a strong supporter of free-education. Still, I want to declare that afore-mentioned text is not influenced by idea of free-education only.

yes chaji dai,

its an awkward situation to actually be able to write about such facts, while at the same time be a part of it (as a student of kmc). But truth is truth and nothing alters it. I will try being neutral about mentioning facts and while i am giving my opinions, i will declare and say that this is "my" opinion based on such and such facts.

lets, i do not have to write abt similar incidences in future, lets hope our kmc rectifies this year's mistake and maintain its dignified glory.

regards to all,
