It is great pleasure to announce that the Department of psychiatry, BPKIHS, Dharan, in collaboration with the Psychiatrists’ Association of Nepal is going to organize its first CME with the theme “Common Mental and Behavioral Problems in Medical Practice” in Dharan, in 29-30th November, 2007. There will be deliberation on different topics related to the theme by both national and international professionals. Besides this, there will be scientific poster presentation related to theme.

There will be adequate opportunities and time for individual and group meetings and other social and entertainment activities. Dharan, being blend of different cultures, geography, climate and nature, will offer satisfying and memorable experience. Another attraction of the event will be a satellite meeting at Bhedetar, a well known hilly tourist spot.

About DHARAN

This is a city of joy, youthfulness, education and business. Though Dharan is said to be a fashion centre of Nepal, one can still meet plenty of people in traditional costumes.

Its development started around a century ago and the British added to its growth in 1953 by opening the Gorkha Recruitment Centre. It has been rebuilt even more beautifully after the earthquakes of 1982 and 1989. Besides its Lahure culture, it is traditionally the centre of copper and brassware industry. It has many religious places like, temples of, Dantakali, Pindeshwor, Budhasubba, Varah Chhetra and many more. The nearby Koshi Tappu wildlife Reserve is the unique habitat for wild buffaloes and more than 300 species of birds. Dharan is the gateway to the range of Mt. Makalu and Mt. Kanchanjunga; this is starting point for trekking to Solu Khumbu and Arun Valley and is only a 15 minute helicopter flight to the Everest base camp.

A pleasant climatic change can be experienced by ascending only 18 kms to Bhedetar, a scenic hill resort. It provides an excellent view of serpentine driveways, Himal and vast landscape of Koshi Valley.

Those interested in white water rafting can experience the serene Tamor and Arun rivers.
