| research collaboration with a U.S. medical student -

Hello xenomed,
I am a third year medical student at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, NY. During March/April of 2009, I am hoping to do a research project in Nepal on the views of Nepali medical students on migration to the developed world. This type of research has been done throughout the developing world, but not yet in Nepal. I chose Nepal because I've previously spent an enjoyable year and a half there, first as a study abroad student and then working for that study abroad program's small NGO.
For the project, I want to do a written questionnaire based survey of an entire class of graduating medical students at at least one medical college, hopefully in the the Kathmandu Valley. This survey would be based on a previous survey used in India (see Rao et al) but tailored to the specifics of Nepal. I am looking for a fellow medical student, resident, fellow, or faculty attending to assist with logistics of survey administration, analysis, and writing of the paper. Unfortunately, I am not receiving formal funding for this project and thus the research would be unpaid. Collaborators would receive the same benefits I will receive: real-world experience in study design and implementation, satisfaction that one is contributing to a growing literature on global physician migration, and a possible publication to strengthen the CV. Please respond to my email directly if interested or have any ideas/suggestions:

Thanks!
Sincerely,
Ian Huntington
