Lets talk about health in New Nepal. - 19-05-2008, 12:48 AM

New Nepal is the talk of town today. Nobody exactly knows what it really means. Yet we have something in our mind, we have some sort of dream about our future.

Being medicos, we certainly have concern about how the health system, policies and structures would be in the days we'd be working as doctors.

Will the politicians care what we feel and what we want for ourselves and for the people we need to serve? They would not, if we ourselves don't speak up.

With CPN maoist as the major party in the constituent assembly, it is imperative that their health policies be discussed. As what they stand for is more likely to be implemented, we have a responsibility to make them choose the best way for the better health of the Nepalese.

Do you think the free and quality health care to the poor and marginalized can be a possibility in near future? Can we head towards free health for all the people in some years?

There are possibilities, in my view, but the challenges ahead are much more.

Now let us discuss about what should be done about it, about ensuring free and quality health care to the people, especially the poor and the underprivileged, and about what we medical students and health professionals may do to make a better environment for us to work for our brothers and sisters with glory and satisfaction.

Lets talk about health in New Nepal.
