New cases in Pous 2064, HIV = 175, AIDS = 26, Death = 2. HIV rate is very high in Housewives than sex workers in Nepal ! ! ! HIV status in Nepal till 2005: Total Adult=70000, Adult Prevalence (15-49)=0.55%, Number of Women (15-49) LWHA=15,310 (22%), HIV Prevalence rate in IDUs=32.7%, HIV prevalence rate in sex worker=3.8%, HIV prevalence rate in client of SW=2.1%. The latest U.N. report shows that 65 million people have been infected with HIV since it was first identified 25 years ago. Twenty five million people have died of AIDS.

NMC Members Locked inside the NMC Office by Internship Protesters - 07-02-2008, 07:05 AM
NMC Members have been lock inside the NMC office by the Internship protesters demanding for increasing the internship seat in the Bir Hospital.

NMC has limited the internship seat to 60 in Bir hospital. More than 100 interns appeared for the internship entrance examination conducted by Bir and only 60 got the place for the internship.

Although NMC has given affiliation to some other centers but the seat are negligible as compared to Bir.

There is another discussion going on

NMC members have been released. They will have a meeting with Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Bir Hospital on coming Tuesday in the Nepal Medical Council which will come into the conclusion like how many seats Bir will get and what will happen to those ~50 regarding Internship.
