Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health and Population has issued a letter to the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) instructing to make One Year Government Service Mandatory if Medical Graduates do his/her internship in Government Hospital like Bir, Maternity, Kanti, Zonal Hospital etc.
On the other hand Nepal Medical Council doesn't recognize the internship done in Russia and China in that case graduate from this countries will have to do their internship in Government Hospitals. And in that case either Ministry of Health and Population doesn’t know this fact or trying to be ignorant in this regard.
Therefore NMC has to find out the solution, simply getting an instruction letter from MOHP doesn't mean NMC has to follow their instruction blindly ignoring the fact.
Either NMC has to exclude graduate from China and Russia for this rule or they have to develop a mechanism by which internship done in China and Russia be recognized.
Moreover they charge Graduate from this country for their internship and where in world this kind of things exist. Before coming out with this kind of rules and regulation they have to do a real homework so that it meets the needs of all.
The entire medical graduate want to serve the nation but government has to make the necessary arrangement in their part from infrastructure to the future opportunities but not taking undue advantages like this.
But this rule can be imposed to those graduate whose internship has been recognized by NMC and still wants to do their internship in Government Hospitals.
This issue must not be oversighted by Nepal Medical Association and entire medical community should look into this matter seriously especially for graduate from China and Russia.
