Thanks a lot - Angel Dai for providing such enormous information and timely updates on the fact and happening around regarding internship.
Regarding this issue, i think there is no alternate except removing this rule , and its better for all students to do internship in nepal. remember that silence is sometimes the best answer | | The Following User Says Thank You to JNUS For This Useful Post: | | | Senior Member | | Posts: 52 Thanks: 1

I do agree that the ministry has made a hasty decision without doing much homework on this particular matter. The government is trying to implement this rule hoping that more doctors will work in the country but contrary to this i think this will lead to more doctors leaving the country , making the situation much more worse than it is now. Our chinese and russian graduates are being used as guinee pigs for this " Experiment" which i hope will ( and should ) not work. The goverment should realise that Rules are not for individuals or a particular group.
Nepal Medical council should look into this matter with utmost seriousness and try to find a solution as soon as possible. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Niraj For This Useful Post: | | | | | Posts: 76,082 Thanks: 92

I just talked to Dr. Choplal Bhusal (President, NMA) also a member of Nepal Medical Council who will took part in the Friday's meeting.
I explained the scenario and handed over the printed copy of our discussion so that he would get more views in this issue.
He will go through the documents in detail and will discuss about it in the forthcoming meeting, he said. Angel xenoMED | NDR “Nothing brings me more happiness than helping people in the society. i can understand preintern n internship issues but whats this new rule?? this is kinda discrimination for the students studying in china n russia....! we have to lose our 1 year in internship , now this additional 1 year seems like it takes 7 years to complete our mbbs degree...hope moe will reconsider this matter. | | xenoMED Advisor | | Posts: 591 Thanks: 4

hi
i'm the student studying in china...in jan 2008 i will be graduate from here...and will be back to nepal for internship...i was surprise to see the new notice of Ministry of Health and population...
we have studied MBBS by paying lots of money here. and now government is saying that we have to work for government for one year...
100 of students in Nepal they study MBBS in scholarship (with government cost) more than 100 students gets scholarship from MOE every year...and still they don't have to do government job compulsory...then why should we? We will work for our country but not under such kind of government rule...
i think this rule should be made for those students who studied in government scholarship...every year 100 students pass out from Nepal's medical college with government scholarship...i think those students should work for government at lease 5 yrs...because for 5 and half yrs they have been spending government money for their MBBS study...so in return they should give something for the government after they had been a doctor...
most of the rules of your country needs to be changed...but who will do it?
so i would request all the higher medical doctors and officer to think about it deeply...because it has been the great problem in Nepal recently? | | | | Posts: 76,082 Thanks: 92

Sorry Guys, it seems that those who do their internship in Government owned hospital they will have to go for one year compulsory service. This rule is effective for those who are doing their internship and have not finished yet.
I am very sorry to see graduate from China and Russia who will be affected the most as their internship is not recognized by NMC so they will have to do their internship in Nepal. Since there aren't enough private hospitals; option goes to Government owned hospitals.
Once you do your internship in Government owned hospitals like Bir, Maternity or Kanti or Zonal Hospitals you will have to serve the country for one year. I am not against serving the nation but feel sorry for graduate from China and Russia who don't have the option.
