Pre-Internship Issues in Nepal

can anyone confirm about the preinternship in nepal.is it a rumour or for sure that hospitals in nepal are not allowing preinternship.

Thank you for all the info.. but i'm confused :S ...if NMC is not involved with pre internship then why are they holding meetings for it???

and, the batch currently doing there pre interns... did they get to complete their course?? if not, then how will it affect them???

is it possible for every nepali student from every uni in china and russia to study at bir at the same time????

and last question to seniors... what other options can u advice us in case this nightmare does turn true??

Well guys! i m not sure about the latest development. but the preintern who have finished their preintenship in bir, they didnt get enrollment in prasuti and kanti. as they said they wont allow preintern anymore so most of them went to pkr and butwal. since the cirulation havent reached there so they r taking preintern for few more month, which ll be stoped afterward i guess. when i met them last time they said from now on there ll be no preinternship in nepal. But they were also saying there wont be problem for internhip. These hospital ll allow internship.
So as for my understanding, u guys need to do preinternship there in china and then come back to nepal for internship. Well i m not sure of this information...need confirmation. Few preintern told me so.

Anupama if you don't get chance to do your pre-internship that doesn't mean you will be ruined definately you will be deprived of clinical exposure in Nepal. However you can do when you finish your 4.5 years of medical schooling and start your internship here.

I am sorry to say that Pre-Internship has been banned in Nepal. The Ministry of Health instructed Nepal Medical Council (NMC) and NMC inturn instructed Bir, Kanti and Maternity Hospital.

NMC has strict rule about medical education in Nepal. They believe that making a doctor is the reponsibility of respective Medical School i.e. even internship. The internship from Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan has been recognized by NMC. Therefore Medical Graduate from these coutries will have to do their internship at their respecitve Medical School. Howeve Internship from Russia and China has not been recognized by NMC therefore those graduate will be allowed to do their internship in Nepal.

Rupesh its confirmed now, pre-internship has been banned. I just talked to NMC officials and one of the hospital director. Bir, Kanti and Maternity hospital has got the instruction letter not to allow pre-internship from NMC as NMC got the instruction letter from Ministry of Health.

Sherpa, I am sorry to say, it is confirmed that pre-internship has been banned.

NMC got a instruction letter to ban internship and pre-internship from Ministry of health thats why they had to send letters to the respective institute who used to allow pre-internship. They are having serious meeting on Internship. Recenlty they had 3 days workshop on internship guideline at Nagarkot. Ministry will have a meeting on coming Tuesday therefore NMC will have its meeting on Internship on next Friday.

They will be allowed to complete their pre-internship.

No, it is not possible. You have to complete your 4.5 years of Medical Education at your Medical School and you can start your internship after getting permission from NMC.

Which nightmare? Pre-internship has been banned so you have to do your clinical at your institute.

Although Ministry of Health has banned internship along with Pre-internship but NMC has not recognized the inernship done in China and Russia therefore NMC wants to allow internship to those graduate from China and Russia. They will have a meeting on this issue on next friday.

a couple days ago i was told by nmc that ,preinternship can be done outside the valley in the zonal hospitals of various cities.moreover those hospitals have accepted to allow ding preinternship in thier hospital....for example government hospitals of pokhara and biratnagar.........
can someone enlighten me ?

moreover ,i was told that nmc is making new rules just to stop people doing preinternship in kathmandu...as the hospitals of kathmandu has become crowdy............

As apurba said above, gandaki hospital(pokhra) and biratnagar hospital have already accepted for doing pre-internship from coming february and also has taken advance money. what will happen to those students, if they continue their pre-intern in pokhra,biratnagar n other places outside valley, will it be valid by NMC ? what do you suggest?
