MAHASHIVARATRI 2006
“All China Foreign Medical Students Basketball Tournament 2006”
Beginning is as good as half done. Every beginner is a winner. At least, he has won over the inertia & procrastination & fear of beginning. Wow! We too have begun this pious work of MAHASHIVARATRI 2006 celebration here in XinXiang Medical College, Henan, PR China. That sounds & looks good as well as great. All China Foreign Medical Students Basketball Tournament has bounced off finally. Moreover, we’re hoping & waiting to seal it off with a Musical Show on the eve of the Mahashivaratri.
Of all the hortatory slogans kicking around this BIG world of “ups & downs” the key one is ‘Kaizen’ (a Japanese terminology meaning ‘continuous improvement’). While each & every individual wants to strive for dramatic breakthroughs, what is inevitably necessary is this - KEEP DOING LOTS OF LITTLE THINGS BETTER & BETTER!
What matters most here is the fact that one has to focus on making things better not bigger.{I hereby grab this opportunity to welcome all the guests from Tianjin, Kaifeng, Xi’an & Zhengzhou and hope that your stay here in Xinxiang will be as comfortable as possible irrespective of whatever hardships might come your way. Remember…… BIG OPPORTUNITIES ARE DISGUISED IN BIG PROBLEMS!!!**
The strategy that should make a fossilized impression within one’s mind, heart & soul is the term “rapid inch-up”, I feel. Take enough tiny steps and pretty soon you out distance the competition because the journey of a million miles begins with a single step. When finally the accomplishments become obvious, its magnitude may surprise you more than anyone else.
One vivid purpose of MAHASHIVARATRI FEST 2006 to be organized here in Xinxiang Medical College was for a change. Change - you very well- is the law of nature & dynamicity is its character. Moreover, it has the other purpose of bringing together all Foreign Medical Students to one common abode and bridging the gap among them. Friendship, of course, matters! The world too is as good as round so that friendship may go round it. This interaction I feel will definitely help all of us to simultaneously restructure, refine and plan ourselves physically and mentally for the global strategic and competitive era; tinkering with our culture and even becoming a HUMAN VALUED LEADER .
It’s very much obvious that nobody can really guarantee the future. The best all of us can do is to size up the chances, calculate the risks involved, estimate our ability to deal with them, and then make our plans with confidence.
Conclusively, it’s high time we join hands together and hope for the best to happen so that this MAHASHIVARATRI 2006 turns out to be an event of exclamation needing no explanation.
HAPPY MAHASHIVARATRI 2006!!!
THE CURTAIN RAISER
In spite of the chill weather, the basketball team members from five different Medical Colleges/Universities of PR China had gathered for the opening ceremony of “All China Foreign Medical Students Basketball Tournament 2006”. The event was being organized by the Foreign Students of XXMC, Henan, PR China under the guardian supervision & support of Foreign Affairs Office of the same. It was a much awaited event!
The presence of Chinese personalities like Mr. Zhang Baolin and Mr. Feng (high ranking members of FAO) along with other members of International Education Institute added much glamour to the opening ceremony.
The turnover of spectators also looked quite promising. In the past events ne’er had such a big crowd of around 150 foreign students gathered. Chinese students too had come to witness the event as a matter of inquisitiveness.
The opening ceremony began at ten minutes to six in the evening. The intro was made by the host (Mr. Tejendra Karki) himself with a welcome note, reminder of the rules & regulations, the essence of discipline and expression of gratitude to the visiting teams for their presence as well as participation. He also grabbed the opportunity to introduce the team members of all five Medical Colleges/Universities.
This was followed by a welcome note by our reverend Director, Mr. Zhang Baolin. He too stressed on fair play & the importance of the need to play by the rules. Another aspect he shed light on was the fact that this event would give all of us ample opportunities to cultivate, develop & establish friendship. Finally, he declared the “All China Foreign Medical Students Basketball Tournament 2006” open.
This marked the beginning of an event for friendship, sportsmanship & entertainment as well as fun.
The venue for the event was XXMC Basketball Court and was for about a week’s time.
