Medical camps in the Eastern hilly districts of Nepal - 22-07-2006, 06:23 AM

Barbote VDC lies in the Eastern hilly part of Ilam district, about 10 km from Ilam Bazaar, along the Panchthar-Phidim highway. Sub health post in Barbote VDC organized a medical and dental health camp on 22nd July, 2006. Altogether we had four medical doctors from Ilam district hospital and Dr. Megh Bahadur Parajuli Clinic, Community Hospital, Singfring, Ilam and three dental doctors for the camp. We had 160 patients in the camp. The most common problems were APD, Musculoskeletal pain, PID, Hypertension, Dermatological complaints, RTIs etc.
Peoples where they rarely visit hospital due to lack of health education were delighted to see doctors at their front door.
Such medical camps should be organized regularly, but is considered successful only when peoples are getting the real treatment. Many cases were asked to follow up in DMBPC and Ilam district Hospital.

Its good to hear that ther was such programes organised. In our country especially in village area people are unaware of the health due to lack of health education and also due to poverty. If such programmes will be organised from time to time people will be aware of health and we can give them some education on health.
