New cases in Pous 2064, HIV = 175, AIDS = 26, Death = 2. HIV rate is very high in Housewives than sex workers in Nepal ! ! ! HIV status in Nepal till 2005: Total Adult=70000, Adult Prevalence (15-49)=0.55%, Number of Women (15-49) LWHA=15,310 (22%), HIV Prevalence rate in IDUs=32.7%, HIV prevalence rate in sex worker=3.8%, HIV prevalence rate in client of SW=2.1%. The latest U.N. report shows that 65 million people have been infected with HIV since it was first identified 25 years ago. Twenty five million people have died of AIDS.

After an untiring service for 19 years Mark Zimmerman retires as a medical director of patan hospital. This grt friend of nepal told that he has emotinal attachments with the hospital and the nepali ppl. And added that he wud continue to help the health sector of nepal in some other ways. He imphasized the need of decentralization of health facilities and health workers in the country. Thankx a lot for his contribution to the himalayan kingdom.

He is definitely a great friend.
I had few occasions to talk to him personnaly and he was so great.

Very few know the Patan Hospital aka Shanta Bhawan was a DISTRICT HOSPITAL which is now in a step to be a UNIVERSITY!
Who is the man behind?
Definitely ZIM IS THE MAN BEHIND!
HE HAS SO NICE NEPALI, YOU WILL BE AMAZED TO TALK TO THIS MAN!
ZIM HATS OFF FOR YOY!

While introducing to him for the first time, I said I study Medicine at Institute of Medicine and He replied "Ye IOM". He is so familar. Then he said " You are Buddha Basnyat ko Chela." in Nepali. So ground and down to earth Nepali he spoke.

I am sure he will continue to help the health sector of Nepal in one or other ways as AJAY has said above.
