Yesterday(13th ma,2006)i got a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk with Dr.Brayan Cobbs personally. Its a special memory i cherish to remember.
On saturday morning, Budha Jyanti, in KMC Sinamagal hospital i attended"Advanced Trauma Care for Doctors and Nurses" seminar . Little did i know how this experience of one day was going to affect my today. There was Dr.Brayan , all ready to introduce and share his wonderful passion for Emergency Medicine.I was fascinated to see a man, who had risked his life in Gongbu for saving injured men and continues be a true HERO.
There i learned a lot about the emergency scenario.About the importance of VOLUME, ABCDEFG, trauma care and lot more.
I was really delighted to get a small conversation with him. I truly believe it is a life's special gift to me.
I has asked him-"What drives him to put so much value on the life on others than his own and to take massive action in helping whoever he feel in need".
He answered with a blink-"That's what doctors are for.And in my country they have taught never to bend your knees, but hold your head high instead."
I had a pleasant talk with him, and he shared with me his role model -
Rudolf Virchow, and about his family background about there being involved in world war 2.
He believes that WAR IS A DISEASE OR ELSE WHY WOULD SO MANY DIE FROM IT.
i was deeply touched by the ideas and his endevours. He wanted a helicopter to be used to assess the rural areas IN TIME TO SAVE LIFE.
He says-"Physicians may have the priviledge to diagnose fully, but here when we are on job WE GOT TO SEE THE WORST SCENARIO FIRST.We leave our coffee, don't check our petrol in vehicle or lose a second. We just reach the place and ACT."
He adds-"In my country, police knows to check pulse , here , they know to check purse instead."
Then i happened to ask a critical question " How was your experience in Bangladesh." I knew it was a personal question and i knew i was there to know who Dr.Brayan is. He paused a bit and replied-" I have been shot before. It's nothing."
He continued to add value to many of the attendants from different colleges throughout day , and zoom it was five in evening and he had to stop due to time constraints.
My experience was beyond magical.I met a Man of Honour, got to know his ideas and his profound knowlege and PASSION for Emergency Care , his passion for TRAUMA CARE.
I , hereby , thank Angel sir for his undefinable efforts and XENOMED and everyone who are directly or indirectly involved in it. I thank you all for the special gift.I am very much grateful to this forum for giving me an opportunity to share my gift, and would like to request anyone to share their's too.
Remember to live with passion. beE In toUch...

Shushant-passion, this is a wonderful description. Involving the the seminar, conference, journal and publication should be right from the begining of the medical school but most of us do not value this things until we become the graduate.
I am glad to know that you people are getting involve in it. Keep going on, no matter what your batchmates say, they (you) will feel the difference by the time you become graduate. | | xenoMED Advisor | | Posts: 604 Thanks: 2

Thanks to him ! | It was monotonus but his hard work proved to be worthful. Can u imagine a single preson continuously speaking for such a long period of time? BNut he had no sign of tiredness till the end of the programme. Sarensa

Well, in a short conversation with him, I realised that being a Nepali I knew nothing of Nepal. He knew much more of my country than I did. | | Senior Member | | Posts: 171 Thanks: 0

earlier the morning i thought the presentation today would be lengthy but didn't even thought that the whole day only one man would present.
i think i spent more than 4 hrs hearing his next( as i was helping him in powerpoint), but even then i managed to listen to his presentation.
it was an untiring effort, i think he's the one who is dedicated to the development of something he strongly feels important in the country.
i certainly hope that man of honor like him should deserve a right opportunity to establish a trauma center, may be not immediate right, but sooner the better
he knows nepal better than i personally do , this time i go with raj,
he's is amazing
