Dear Friends,
I was browsing a german informative website
Allgemeinbildung, Lexikon, Wörterbücher & Reiseführer - wissen.de (wissen =to know) this morning. They have a flag quiz there, with information about origin/meaning of flag color/object etc. I was doing pretty well with the quiz, score 9 out of 10.

But I was astonished when I read about Nepal's flag. It reads, as written in german in following picture:
"The moon stands for the king, the sun for the prime minister and the triangles for the himalayas."
I found same meaning in various sites.
Google search found some sites with crazy infos like:
"The moon is supposed to represent quiet because Nepal is such a peaceful country and people are asleep during the night. And the sun is supposed to represent work because it is such a hard-working country and everyone is busy during the daytime."
I think it is very obvious to sleep at night and work during daytime, and so does not sound strong enough to be proud of it.

Nepal
In our School, we were taught like it is in wiki, but only the
bold statement:
"
The blue border denotes peace and harmony that has been prevalent in the country since the age of
Gautama Buddha, who was born in Nepal. The crimson color is Nepal's national color, and
it indicates the brave spirit of the Nepalese people. The two triangles symbolize the Himalaya Mountains and represent the two major religions, Hinduism and Buddhism.
[1] The red triangular flag has been a Hindu symbol of victory since the time of
Ramayana and
Mahabharata. The depiction of celestial bodies represents permanence,
the hope that Nepal will last as long as the sun and the moon. The moon symbolises that the Nepalese are soothing and calm, while the sun symbolises fierce resolve.
The moon also symbolizes the shades and the cool weather of the Himlayas, whereas the sun symbolizes the heat and the high temperature at the lower part (Tarai) of Nepal."
What did you know about the flag ? And there has been discussion going on about changng the flag to rectangle with different motive. What is your opinion ?
