For a moment no one believed that the fedex wont appear in the finals. For a long time in the world of tennis, the question used to be who will face fedex in the finals? But not this time! This final will be different. It will miss the charm and skills and grace of federer. personally i am not used to seeing any finals with out federer. So, i will very dearly miss him.
But whatever federer has already achieved is a record in itself. it is said, when you have reached the top of a mountain, there is only one way you can see and that's down! So, the crucial thing is how long can you stay at the top and how long can you defer the inevitable? and mr fedex has successfully done that for a long long time which seemed impossible in todays highly competitive world of sports.
Federer has already registered himself as one of the greatest players the world of tennis has ever seen. Oops, i am talking as if he is not going to play tennis anymore! If i sound like that i am very sorry because fedex is not finished and i am sure he will come back very strong in the next grandslam.
Hey federer, i dont need to remind you but here is a saying - " When the going gets tough, the tough gets going!" so, see you at Roland Garos!!!
and best wishes to both the finalists: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic
and just in case you are interested:
This will be the first time Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic have met on the court.
If Novak Djokovic wins, he will be the fourth youngest person ever to win the Australian Open.
This will be Djokovic's second successive Grand Slam final after coming runner-up to Federer in the US Open final last year. This is Tsonga's first Grand Slam final.
Djokovic has won seven singles titles, while Tsonga has won none.
Djokovic's previous best performance at the Australian Open was when he reached the fourth round last year. Previously Tsonga has never made it past the first round.
Tsonga knocked out three top 10 players on his way to the final, while Djokovic sent two packing, including world No.1 Roger Federer.
Djokovic is seeded No.3 in the tournament, Tsonga, on the other hand is unseeded, ranked No.38 in the world.
If Tsonga wins tonight, he will jump 29 ranking places to No.9 in the world. If he loses his ranking will jump to No.18.
Djokovic has not dropped a set on his way to the final, while Tsonga has only dropped two, one to Andy Murray and one against Richard Gasquet.
Tsonga has spent two hours and 23 minutes longer than Djokovic on the court during Australian Open 2008.
Just by playing in today's match, Tsonga will more than double his total career prizemoney. If he wins, he will nearly triple it.
And a very big congratulations to Maria.
