Self Study - 08-02-2006, 12:20 PM

Self study can be done at
  • Home
  • Class
Sometime your friend come to you asking for the company for shopping, movie, party or any situation that you might have not been prepare for. For some day you might spent hours for your study say for early morning to late night till you finish the subject and you take rest for more than a week. That's how most of us do in our self study.

There is a great saying - a rolling stone gather no moss, therefore to get into a medical college you must develop strong will power, getting a medical seats is not like you go to a shop and you'll just pick it up. None the doctor who you encounter around you have just got the seat, they had spent hours of study, their strong dedication, hard work has made them what they are now.

Therefore to achieve your goal its the self study which will help you in your entire career although discussion is another part which is vital.

We strongly recommend you to go through your course books which you studied in your ISc/+2 or equivalent level, make your concept clear, its the concept that plays an important role in your entire life. Most of the student try to go into the detail for e.g. if they are ask to them about the DNA model pro bally they will answer but they fail to answer where does the DNA reside in RBC's. Therefore its the concept... your concept .... concept and the concept which is the most for any kind of entrance examination.

Before any kind of study you must have: Standard Books, your study room (should be same all the time so that when you enter you should feel like studying.), Study table and of course necessary stationary material. Then make a routine, ask your family member not to disturb you during your study hour and ask your friend not to call you as well. Stick to your time table. Take rest one day in a week - you can go for movie or anything.

[break=Study at Home]
Study at Home:
  • Do regular quick revision
  • Study slowly to understand the chapter Take rest for 5-10 min in each interval of 30 min.
  • Write and revise slowly to memorize difficult things, you can write in a piece of paper and keep it with you all the time and when you can't recall just go through those paper.
  • Weekly revision: One day in a week you should go quickly all the chapter you studied. Remember none is intelligent enough to recall the things which he/she heard, saw for the first time. Its the repetition which matter most.
  • Do monthly revs ion.
  • Do practice test as much as you can it can be solving multiple choice question or anything particularly related to entrance examination pattern
[break=Study in the Class]
Study in the class:
  • Reach in the class before your teacher comes have the gross about today's class
  • Revise previous day's class note.
  • Reverse today's class work as soon as teacher finishes, just quick revision.
  • Discuss subject matter with teacher, tell that you are preparing for competition for e.g. MOE, IOM, BPKIHS, KU etc.
  • Collect past question paper and solve and if you can't answer then discuss with friends and teachers. Be polite with your colleagues and cooperate with them as you are not competing only against them but also thousands of others.
  • After all your entering in a profession where social behavior is counted a lot so start developing it.
