Dear Sushil,
Yes this is one of the most stressful period of medical career. There is no doubt in it and it is the longest and most anticipated exam in our medical career. And most of the people say that this is the period when you have studied a lot and you know a lot.
What I think and reality is :
Quote:
First - There is no way but to FACE it ! Yes FACE it. Those who run away from it will either lose their time or their career in it (in worst form)! Second - There is less likely or blunder that you slip away! Almost for sure is 'you will make it'! Most of the time it is mere bad luck. Third - Even if bad luck happens to you - There is no big deal. It is not going to have any difference ultimately - to your career, to your mission, to your vision and ultimate goal! So take it EASY (may be much of my type)! Fourth - Confidence! I mean you have to be cool and confident in yourself. Don't lose your patience and get panic! If you need, you can take beta blocker but don't lose your patience and bunk/postpone the exam. That's the grave mistake!!! If you think so or feel so you may need propranolol but don't avoid the exams - any exams be it viva or theory! Take time, be cool and attend the exam. If you are in theory you can stay ten/fifteen minutes or half an hour without writing, drink water and see others then you can write. If you are in theory, you can just shift the turn if it is worst ! But never think of quitting it unless incapacitating conditions! Be confident in yourself. Fifth - YOU KNOW a LOT ! There are so many things that you know! In fact, you know a lot. You know so many things that examiners ask. You can many many questions asked there!!! So keep in mind that you have read, you can do it and you know the stuff. If not in-depth, you know basics and they ASK IT!!! It is true. Sixth - Presence of Mind! Never lose your presence of mind while sitting for the exam. Most of the erroneous answers are uttered by losing presence of mind. So listen to the question, think about it, be systematic and start answering. Seventh - Never utter a thing which you don't know. Many people get trapped by themselves uttering the subjects/terms which they don't know! Rare things are rarely asked and rare answers are rarely correct. So if you are giving answers in list tell first the most common at first and rares are at last! |
I took it in an easiest manner. I had good laughs in some of the vivas when it went blunders!!! But ultimately it goes well.
Keep faith on yourself.
Best of luck!
Best wishes,
mati
