with lectures you buy a land, with self study you make a base then a building of understanding stands on it with group discussion. All are equally important.
well...i think at first to study into the topic u should know what u have to go through by the lecture classes....though u never wholesome divert your mind into it...then self study to know about he subject...and group discussion adds more confident for what u have studied isn't it..so i prefer all 3 combines to make medical study better>>>vigilant>>.
self reading is like a ordinarily having dal and bhat for the medical student, it's a habit,
but group discussions is more productive, dherai jana ko thorai thorai kura dimag ma ghuse pani u'll know a whole lot better and moreover it's highly retainable,
solely self study is not helpful but some teachers canot provide much information in this case self study is good
teachers help guide u towards a particular way so that u can understand well
