Surprising Causes of Weight Gain - 18-03-2007, 07:58 PM

It's true that we gain weight when we eat more than we can burn off.
But this conventional diet wisdom does not always hold true. Weight
gain can also be caused by health conditions such as hypothyroidism,
food sensitivity, Cushing's syndrome, organ disease, prescription drug
use, anxiety, blood sugar imbalance and essential fatty acid deficiency

Thank U for sharing this.

But, aren't the conditions U have stated same as one U have said as 'conventional wisdom'. If I am right, in all these conditions, U eat more than U can burn.

'Food Sensitivity'. Can U define what it means. I was thinking this term means allergy to some food. But here it seems to have different meaning.

Thank You

hi walrus.u r right...........food sensitivity means allergic to some food.but do you know that some people are sensitive towards particular foods and if by chance or owing to ignorance, if they happen to consume such food items, then it is likely that it might lead to fluid retention caused by inflammation and release of certain hormones, thus increasing their weight. In addition, there is fermentation of foods, particularly carbohydrates, in the intestines which can result in a swollen distended belly and gas production.

i hope now it"s clear to you .........

anxiety......ummm....... i also don't know much about it but also i will try to explain to you .......
chronic response to stress ,anxiety ,frustation occuring over days ,weeks and months cause chronic elevation of stress level causing detrimental effects on body(eg.weight gain, abdominal obesity).moreover many people respond to stress or anxiety by eating excessively.source of anxiety and stress may not always be apparent but may still effects eating habits and cause weight gain........
