SICHUAN UNIVERSITY West China Center of Medical Sciences “Rigor, Diligence, Unity, Dedication”
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Chengren hospital and Renji Christian hospital now collectively called as West China Hospital was established in 1892, by some Christian missionaries from the United States, Canada and other western countries.
Since then, the university has gone through a series of changes including infrastructure and naming. Before receiving the well acclaimed name of West china Hospital, it's name was changed to University Hospital of West China Union University in 1942.
West China university is one of the oldest university is china teaching Western medicine. It was established in 1892 in accordance with the Renji hospital. It received it's recent name as West China University Of Medical Sciences in 1985. During a time span of 111 years there were several changes in the name of the university:
1892 Ren-Ji Hospital the first hospital set up according to western medicine principles.
1910 West China Union University.
1914 Medical and Dental School.
1952 Sichuan Medical College.
1985 West China University of Medical Sciences.
2000 Union with Sichuan University.
Now our university occupies an area of 27 hectares with 2450 staffs.
