Can we have some cuisines?? - 14-04-2006, 12:00 PM

this is to our xenomed adminis...
um... actually, since we students living in china don't have same life as those in nepal.. so i was wondering if we can have some threads or sub-forum where we can post different recepies... chinese or western or nepalese, newari , indian... anything like that coz most of us dont always like to eat chinese food and so it would be great to learn to cook different types of food since we have to cook ourselves here. plus our friends from nepal can also learn to make easy chinese cuisines..
it's just a thought, i know this is a medical forum not some cookery class forum or sth like that... so i would like my fellow students studying in china to reply what they think about this..

Dear pickle

xenoMED always promote innovative ideas but it should be of common interest. If I see >10 users responses to this thread then the sub-forum can be considered for its creation.

When this forum get the one hit per day and min 5-10 reply a week and ~ 10 new topic per month for three months your forum will get the permanent place in the xenoMED.

I wish you best of luck.

i think its quite ackward to start such things in this forum.
i will never replace dal,bhat,tarkari for such gongbao jiding.
before starting these type of forum administers should change the name of this site to "www.tarkari&med2in1.com".
WHAT CAN U EXPECT FRM SUCH MEDICAL SITE ?? TARKARI OR KNOWLEDGE??its my opinion.lets c what happpens??

I agree with attitbaskota completely and absolutely! As the name of this website is related to MED how can there be such forum related to kitchen recipes!!!!!!!!
Here all the members of this site are related to medical directly or indirectly! we are not homescience/hotel management students!! we should help the public to be HEALTHY, Physically, Mentally and Socially!
I humbly request the Admn.. of xenoMed not to provide any sub-forum for such items like recepies....... The name and work of this website doesn't suit for recepies!!!!!!!!
I would like to say sorry for those whom i have hurt by saying these things!!!!!! But its what I feel.
have good day!!!

what is happening to these guys acting weird (atitbaskota, unseennude, cobra palden) who says this site is strictly related to medicine only..it's more related to students life with medicine..perhaps you may be happy with dal bhaat tarkari only for your entire life but somebody may be benefitted with this idea..there's nothing wrong with the site and it's not gonna change to any homescience or lyrics site or i don't think it causes any harm physically, mentally and socially to anyone. rather we can share healthy food recipees and try it ourselves as most of us often spend time in the kitchen too.

well.. if some ppl think that this site shouldn't have any thing to do with recepies then i have nothing to say... i thought this "China" forum was to bring together all the students studying in china.. and sharing recepies could be interesting between us...since everything regarding studies and internship and all are discussed in our main forum xenomed...and we cant have same thing over here..coz that would be repeating same thing over and over again and no one would look at our site either. n'way... everyone has different views so i have nothing to say to those who dont think it's good idea..

n'way.. thanks khursani for ur support.. and as u have asked..here is a recipe for gongbao jiding

INGREDIENTS:

* 2 boneless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each
* Marinade:
* 1 tablespoon soy sauce
* 1 teaspoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
* 2 teaspoons cold water
* 2 teaspoons cornstarch
* Sauce:
* 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
* 2 teaspoons light soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon black or red rice vinegar, or red wine vinegar
* 1 tablespoon chicken broth or water
* 3 teaspoons granulated sugar
* 1/2 tsp salt
* a few drops sesame oil
* 1 tsp cornstarch
* Other:
* 6 to 8 small dried red chili peppers, or as desired
* 2 garlic cloves,
* 1/2 cup skinless, unsalted peanuts
* 3 - 4 cups oil for deep-frying and stir-frying

PREPARATION:
Cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes. Mix in the soy sauce, rice wine or sherry, water and cornstarch. Marinate the chicken for 30 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix together the sauce ingredients, whisking in the cornstarch last.
Remove the seeds from the chile peppers and chop. Peel and finely chop the garlic.

Heat the oil for deep-frying to between 360 and 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Carefully slide the chicken into the wok, and deep-fry for about 1 minute, until the cubes separate and turn white. Remove and drain on paper towels. Drain all but 2 tablespoons oil from the wok.

Add the chilies peppers and stir-fry until the skins starts to darken and blister. Add the garlic. Stir-fry until aromatic (about 30 seconds). Add the deep-fried chicken back into the pan. Stir-fry briefly, then push up to the sides of the wok and add add the sauce in the middle, stirring quickly to thicken. Stir in the peanuts. Mix everything together and serve hot.

serves 4-6,
enjoy...
