Practical exams and theory exams

what have been a common belief among all of us is - theory is more important, practical is just so so, once you know theory, you can easily handle the practicals!!!
perhaps thats true to some extent but now reaching at the verge of mbbs course, i feel somewhere we are not correct, that concept is not right.
theory is a different art and practicals need different skills, i felt that way. these days, i find theory papers not so difficult to answer, but the practicals are really daunting! one reason might be we get whole 3 hours to think and answer the theory questions, and no one knows at the same moment what we wrote, so we wont feel embarrassed even if we write bogus......
but at the practicals, with the HODs standing right infront of me, and the patient staring at my face, and my friends at next bed paying so much attention to the questions the teacher is going to fire at me - i feel completely frozen, unable to think even which system the question is refering to... and unable to remember my own patients name whom i have inquired for so long.... this is very embarrassing. we have to answer the right moment, which makes it very scary and difficult... very much unlike theory papers where we get ample time to ponder over the thing and scribble every word we know...... concentrating hard and trying to relate that word to all the other possible words we know....
and ofcourse we also get some time to peek at our frens papers which is obviously not possible during the practicals.....
the other thing is the patients factor... some patients are just so reluctant to allow us exmaine that we dont get to examine the patient properly at the first place, secondly, some patients just simply misguide us and provide untrue history just to complete the interview in as less time as possible..... that doesnot make any difference for their health but makes a big big difference for our examss....
another big difference in these two exams keeping our performance under consideration is we are used to theory papers but not to the practicalss.....
