Memories of Year 2007

January:
Starting of a New Year, many people in our country celebrate 1st of January and welcome the upcoming year as a new beginning for new hopes. However many people think that it’s not our new year and they don’t give it a much weight. But for me it’s another day for a celebration and having fun around. My New Year in 2007 was not filled with much fun as I was going through the torture of my 3rd year finals so nothing much to do and celebrate. I had to study, study and study.
Overall, I had an interesting January as it was time when my final year began - the 8th semester. I was happy and also tensed because within a year’s time I was supposed to appear in the final MBBS exam, a scary one, as my teacher always told me it was the toughest exam of any students life. We had to study harder and work harder to pass through it. I too dogged to work harder.
February:
Days were passing on well with the courses of the final year in the winter until the day of “14th of February”, yes the valentine day! Its not that I met the man of my dreams that day but something more special happened in my life. That was the day when I saw a first snowfall. Wow! That was an amazing experience. I still remember that day… I was in the college after completing my day. I wanted to rush to my flat and sleep in my warm bed as it was chilling cold outside but due to the rain I could not do that. So I was waiting for the rain to stop. I had to study too so I lend an umbrella from a friend and went downstairs to the parking to get my book that was in the box of my scooter. It was then; I saw cotton like thing falling from above – I stared at it – First, I felt like “Is someone throwing cottons from the roof of the hospital or what?” I was surprised and could not exactly explain myself what actually was happening. Then I heard someone saying “Hey, there’s a snowfall!” My eyes were wide open and I stood there immobile for sometime. I have no words to explain how it really felt. It was just breathtaking. Next day I heard in news - after a total of 64 years, Kathmandu valley had a snowfall again. I was lucky to have the experience. In this month again I was overwhelmed by our 3rd year results me and all of my friends had cleared our 3rd year exam.

March and April:
Going to college, attending regular classes and patient were my day to day activity. There is nothing much I can remember of these two months and it just flew away.
May:
During this month I had my 8th semester end exams. Nothing much this month.
June:
A special month of the year (not only this year) but every year because this is the month in which I celebrate my birthday. This year was more special since I had a wonderful birthday party which I can never forget. Me, my sisters and brothers and few of my friends went to Nagarkot – for overnight stay and had a wonderful evening and partied till late night. I got a special gift too, an “aquarium” with lots of fishes of different species and many more gifts. I had a wonderful birthday in the year 2007 and it’ll be cherished forever.

July:
Our 9th semester was over by this month and we had a holiday. I enjoyed my holidays with my parents back in my hometown - Pokhara. But I had to come back soon because we had to organize a farewell party for our seniors who were having their finals. We had great difficulty arranging the party – even small things mattered a lot to us. My friend had even managed to prepare a funny award ceremony for our seniors. I and one of my friends managed to prepare -a short movie - of a song with the collection of our entire seniors’ photographs and were able to touch their hearts and remember their days during college life. Everyone appreciated our work and that felt great! Later in the night, we had dance party - a fun filled evening.
August:
Holidays were over and my 9th (final) semester had also started already. I had to work harder to get through my final MBBS. So I had no much time for fun then. I had to study, study and study as I was going to be a doctor and I had to be confident on what I would do.
September:
This month was also great for me. My sister had completed her bachelors and on 17th September she had her convocation. I, with my family went to Kathmandu University to accompany her. We had great time over there and clicked several photographs too. Well about classes of 9th semester, it was going on as usual.

October:
Festival time was coming ahead. But I could not enjoy my Dashain this year as I had my pre-board coming soon in the November and boards in the December. So I had to study and I didn’t go to see my parents also. Well dashain will be back next year too but finals won’t spare me. If I didn’t succeed I won’t be able to be a doctor and my parents who have a lot of hope in me will break up. So I decided to stay back in Kathmandu and study.
November:
This month was filled with study and nothing else. I had my pre-boards from 13th of November and fortunately, all the exams went well but I realized after my pre-boards that my preparations were not enough for my finals. I had to study a lot more to successfully complete my finals. So after completing my exams I didn’t waste much of my time and started studying for my finals.
December:
It was also study time for me. My finals were from 31st December so I had to prepare myself for the upcoming finals. I had to make sure that I will clear my finals with flying colors so I studied hard. I woke up early in the chilling morning of December and studied till late night. I always said to myself that I will sleep till late in the morning after the exams are over and console myself. This time also my new year was not very special. No matter, next year I’ll celebrate it with double fun.
