Face Of Nepal

This is a photograph I took from my Canon Powershot S3IS during my visit to Manakamana. We were standing in the line queing up to visit the temple when me and few of my friends took a break in a near by restaurant for a cup of coffee and its where I met this old man.

He had a sad story to tell and he loved sharing it while we loved hearing it. He was homeless, had diseases of the bone and walking around in the hills was a tough job for him. All he ate was from the mercy of the villagers. Even in that restaurant the owner had offered him a cup of tea for free. He also had an eye problem and couldn't see well. Treatment in a good hospital was out of reach for him. From our amateur knowledge of medicine we diagnosed him as a case of arthritis and cataract form the history and symptoms he presented and I guess we were right but noone of us could do anything.

But, what I feel is, even sharing the pain he had must have been of some relief.

During the conversation, I managed to take some photographs of the old man. He was glad to have his photographs taken but I was so sad that he couldn't see it by himself due to the cataract. all he could see was a blurred image and that to made him very happy.

Well, I have named this photograph 'FACE OF NEPAL'.
Reason:
That man represented Today's Nepal. The story he told us was not only his story but the story of thousand of Nepalese around us. Look at his face, don't you feel the pain?
Pain of poverty, pain of disease, pain of helplessness.
I wouldnot go much into political issue but as a Nepali we should feel the pain of our people and this is what this photograph can do, 'MAKE U FEEL THE PAIN'.

I am still looking for such faces. Some day I plan to present some beautiful photographs representing a album "FACES OF NEPAL"

I am not a pro in this work but I hope that as a Hobby photographer I will someday prove good.

Wish me Luck
