Chilling Dolakha

This is my maternal home, Dolakha. I had been there a month ago to drop my sister who was there to work as a doctor in a local hospital.
It was August then, hot weather here in Kathmandu from where our journey began but as we ascended the weather changed gradually.
In few hours time (around 5:00 pm) I was surprised to see that the the roads were all foggy and I couldn't see the road ahead. It was so beautiful though. I enjoyed the change after so long of hot weather here in Kathmandu.
I took this beautiful snap at that beautiful moment.

| | Dolakha, the next morning!![]() Next morning, I woke up again to see a foggy weather. Unlucky me, I really wanted to see the Gaurishankar Himal but couldn't. I then visited the Dolakha Bhimeswor with my sister. You can see the sacred temple just behind me. |

| | I was amazed!![]() Few hours later, to my surprise the sun showed up over the beautiful village. But still unlucky, the mountains were still covered up. No sooner that the sun showed up, I could see the local boys gathering by a pond nearby for a swim. I went there and enjoyed the scenery. I too wanted to swim but for me the weather stillfelt chilling. Some boys told me that, they are habituated with the weather and when the sun shows up they feel really hot and enjoy swimming a lot. |

| | I could remember the empty pond, just above the Pakhlati, n it is now filled with water, may be for the upcoming festival in which, they drain the water to another place via the underground channel in there to around 500m below in another pond...for the Holy Cause. @ Raaz: As dolakha is ur mamaghar, u must be knowing more than this, could u explain a bit about this, i forgot but it was really interesting when i heard it for the first time. And,For all the PPl, please check this superb picture of Dolakha Bhimsen, which i had taken 8 mths back n which is also a rare photograph now. No photos of Dolakha bhimsen can be captured in camera n can be sold. |

| | I was surprised to see the photo of Dolakha Bhimsen. You are right JNUS we are not allowed to take the pic and you must have been lucky to get one. Thank you for sharing it. Its really a sacred place na. I would like to tell you a avery interesting thing about the pillar just infront of the temple. That pillar lies as deep down in the ground as high it stands above the ground. I took a picture of that pillar and will post that soon. You can though see a part of it behind me and my sister in the second picture. About the Pond JNUS, I too know very little but I am going there in the winter to climb up the Kalinchowk when it snows and during that time I will surely collect much information about the pond too. |
