ODDS in "ODD - 2007 AD" !!!

Anger, Frustration, Revenge ..... what not !!!
That's life! We have to keep up anyway and I did.

It started with an intense adrenaline RUSH – the earliest seconds, hours, days and weeks of 2007 for me. I had to think, re-think and re-evaluate the matters and I did eventually. I stood, approached and took decision of my kind, of course! I’m simply like that. I can do that if there has to be done anything. I can take out the positive things just like in a way we wring a wet cloth to dry out a single drop of water. Ultimately I did what I must have done. Then there were my practical exams running!!! Towards third week of the January, 2007 I happen to conclude them with my satisfaction. So it started like a lightening and then torrential rain and was suddenly all open!!!

Me, my room and computer - WORK should go on !

Therefore in a wide, clear and limitless horizon I started my work with a normal and rhythmic pace. Most hey days of my life and extremely rewarding exposures– I was with double gloved, goggled, equipped with all in a close and well lit lab in Kathmandu for more than two months. Mounds of work, people from around the world and one of the most advanced scientific research going on. I got completely engrossed in the work with my zeal and interest.

Then I swung from the height of Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp with the readings in between! Much harder and riskier to do but of course, a life time achievement (at least from my perspective). There are so many things I did as a collateral gain and I learnt from them as well.

Nepal's leading Journalists, Me and Dr Angel at Pheriche (Khumbu). There is a banner of Medical Research Expedition. The hotel is "The White Yak"

Me and Dr Angel in a room of "The White Yak" at Pheriche. We had stayed in the same room and had long, memorable, optimistic and midnight chat there.

On the way up to famous Tengboche Monastery - the difficult, dusty and blazing sun makes a herculean TASK there to climb.

The Russian MI Chopper crashed at Namche in front of "Hotel Sherwi Khamwa". Incredibly and surprising PILOT is alive, happy and gives THUMBS UP !!! Can you believe it???
Then I became graduated and started my internship which has been quite turbulent as well as eventful internship. Anyway, things are not out of control so far. I am hoping to take bulls by horns. In overall, I’m enjoying them. I just like the things to be done in that way. I’ve been serious, sincere, hard working and helpful for the patients. It is always nice to be positive, supportive and professional especially when it comes to your profession.

There were some responsibilities and involvement that I had to be and I did.

Working at Goshainkund Health Camp and managing medical waste - MYSELF !!! Medical waste must be managed well. We did there.
I did justice to my work, interest and responsibility. I am as happy as others there.

Next came of my own work going on – now had to be in the field. It was another breakthrough of work, herculean responsibility and an extremely challenging as well as demanding field work. There were lots of ups and downs but the JOB was done!!!

So, it is about the work again in Khumbu in this 2007's FALL. I'm at Namche, postering for the volunteers, moving Pheriche and Dingboche for the "Free Altitude Lectures" all that.

Today we had a long round so I had to be very busy in the ward. I kept on working – till 1.30PM in the ward and there was OPD at 2PM. I came for the lunch and then entered to my room and just sat in the bed but I didn’t realize when I starting dozing!!! When I woke up it was 2.45PM! Oh GOD, I just put on my apron and started to rush, I got a call. There was a phone from a resident from Neuromedicine OPD and I had patients waiting for the follow ups!!! Oops ! I ran to the OPD. I was informed in the corridor that there are tickets in my table. I went and started working! On last Monday I had forgotten my watch there and one week before my Oxford Medicine Handbook!!! All of them were kept there safely by the Staff and very senior NURSING staff – much revered one. In fact, I get so much respect for her when she just says DOCTOR – your patients, that patient is old, they have school, ….what not and she just looks how we work there and put our name in the ticket and sends patients!!! She is the age of my mom and I’m her kid in fact – and she behaves so well that respect flows on its own. I got to learn from such people.

Later in the evening one of my senior preparing USMLE in the library heard my name being paged in TUTH requesting to go Neuromedicine OPD !!! I said Oh NO!!! Anyway, that’s all in the middle – when I went OPD, senior resident thought I was still working up in the WARD – it has been like that in other days. So it just went like that. I resumed my work.

That’s how I’m going with.

Another height - above 5500m height in Nepal Himalayas - Gokyo Ri - see down below massive and majestic "Cho Yu Glacier"!!! If there is place called Heaven - of course best place ever possible - I think it is there in Nepal Himalayas.

Even in the most EVEN ones we get ODDs !!! May be 2007 AD was simply an ODD for me. So I happen to recall very very few ones from 2007 AD here.

Best wishes,
mati

I think it wasn't ODD rather a year of achievement for you.

You deserve those recognition and sucees in 2007

I admire the most about you is your hard work and the dedication. It is an incredible summery of your 2007 which gives an overview of how laborious you are and can cope up with the extreme situation just like "Extreme Everest Expedition 2007".

Your 2007 was full of Agony, Adventure and reaching the zenith of your success. I wouldn't be wrong if I compare with ascending to the "Kala Pathar", because it was the most ever difficult moment known to me till now.

Every step I used to take would catch my breath and next step would not be possible if I wouldn’t have taken the rest and breath for 15-20 times probably due to various confounding factors like AMS and as we ascend up air would become more thinner with less Oxygen in the environment and so on which would cause decline in Oxygen saturation level in my blood which in turns would left inadequate oxygen in my tissues thereby decreasing the production of ATP in the mitochondria and hence immediate fatigue. But I can't express the triumph of my joy reaching it’s atop which is beyond the scope of my literary explanation.

Likewise, I have witnessed your every moments throughout 2007 and I know if you look back to your days it wasn’t ODD mati, you deserve all those success and recognition. I wish you more than this in coming days.

Keep up the good work.

You remind me the night we spent in “The White Yak”. I was aware of the fact that you would be ascending up somewhere along the Everest region but I wasn’t sure about your whereabouts. While descending down the Thukla Dada, I talked to my companion about you that you would be here in few days. As it was getting dark we tried to reach Pheriche as early as possible. It was a complete pitch dark when we reached “The White Yak” as some of our friend had already reached there (Kantipur TV/News, Nepal Samachar Patra & Free lancer) so after getting fresh up we were in the dining table. Then I think it was Mr. Binod Gyanwali or his wife who told me that there is a Nepali doctor who is in the extreme Everest research. I said, Oh, OK. I didn’t speak a word but I was thinking who else this man would be because I knew that only you have been selected for this research from Nepal if anyone is in the research I should have known. So, it left me in the zone of curiosity that how could this man has been left out from my knowledge since we all were tired we just talked about our trip and related things because I never thought I would meet you that way in the hotel.

Well, so we stayed for 15-20 minutes and that too my surprise you were next to our table and neither neither you nor I noticed. It was a shock I should say, although I was expecting you in the Everest region but not that way in the same hotel in the dining room. That was a pleasant surprise. And of course the late night chat after the dinner is obviously a moment to be cherished.

Yes you are right I did achieve in 2007 in anyway. Even if there were so many ODDS, they happen to teach me so many things for me in life. Now I'm looking brighter side with positive aspect.

Thanks Dr Angel for you detailed and encouraging comment here.

I'm all the way known for it but here by now I'm embarrassed with the people I worked and collaborated !!! I'm really impressed with their attitude, dedication, hard work, stamina, zeal, interest and tremendous stress they deal with !!! There are so great people in the world and work in such manner. I can imagine how they could contribute the science, humanity and be honoured with likes of Nobel. I'm simply embarrassed with them. I mean I have so much to learn from them.

I'm grateful to you Dr Angel. We have been together during thick and thin of the matters. Thanks a lot.
