Whom do u wanna be?

For med students
Have you already decided whom u r going to be? which speciality is more likely for you? I found that not only the final year students, but also the Interns r not sure about it.
May be there are so many causes behind it, the tough competition on entrance exams is one of them.
One of my friend asked me whom i wanna be? i said dont know, she was little surprised. Most of the foreign students already choose the speciality before they give the final year. They spend most of the time in the hospital on that particular department.
I am just curious if u guys have decided already whom u r going to be? and also whom do u wanna be?

 | I was not sure what I would do while I was in the internship. I used to be inclined to the subject where I would have been doing the internship. My teacher used to tell me, internship is the period where we have the opportunity to choose our specialty. But as we went through all those specialty during internship got blurred once we step into the professional life. Because of lack of postgraduate opportunity we land up in the different subject then we used to dream. I have seen people studying psychiatry after doing 10 of year of house job, landing in the Surgery after working in the Paediatrics and there are numerous example as well. There has to be a radical changes in Medical Education in Nepal. Then only we can get the dream of our specialty. Since iam is asking the chosen field, what I would like to add is either you have to work very hard to get your dream come true or it will be vanish just like you wake up in the morning after a wonderful dream. Thanks dude for bringing this issue. |
