How advance is Nepal in medical field?

Posted 31-08-2007 at 08:44 AM by flirt
I wonder what is the situation in Nepal. I don't have the knowledge about there, 'coz most of the time I spend knowing about way of work here in my college hospital.
Somebody say that doctor means the person be able to do everything about clinical stuff? Is it correct?
I heard the major surgeries are referred to other countries like India, Singapore, Phillipines etc. for the better prognosis. Why is that so? Due to lack of technology or lack of manpower or lack of specialist?
I heard chinese graduates are discriminated?
Well for this I have some ideas. Why nepalese professors discriminate them. These are my opinions and if you agree then fine, if you don't agree then also fine.
1. Nepalese professors meet some low standard students (not because their college is low standard but because these students are themselves substandard) and gave all other students the common opinion.
2. Nepalese professors feels uncomfortable because they feel they are not their students. But in fact they are their students as interns or pre-interns.
3. Nepalese professors believe that their teachings are better than those foreign teachers. Yes it is true in some cases, but cannot be true in all cases.
4. Nepalese professors think nepalese student should study in Nepal and nepalese people. But they forget they got MD or whatsoever from foreign land.
5. Nepalese professors don't want change. So they ask very intelligent questions. Its not that the student can't answer. Its just that he want his answer.
6. Nepalese professors are still in community based approach eventhough they heard and know lot about evidence based medicine. They get CME credits for that.
7. Nepalese professors don't like to see chinese graduates at high class doctors as it will snach their reputation.
8. Nepalese professors feel fun to tease medical students, embarass them. May be they are revenging their student days.
But I still think Nepalese professors are the best because they are the best. They have enough knowledge and can express to us fully which chinese professors can't. However, some chinese professors are not less than nepalese professors even if they can't express well due to difference in language.

So if any professors are reading my blog then my request is that don't think every chinese graduates are inferior than nepalese graduates.
Some are stupid for that I agree too. But some are your past days (if you still remember), your reflect. Just belive them. They can work as hard as you if you just guide them.

Dear flirt,

There is no authentic body who says which medical student or graduate or young doctor or a consultant is better in the medical professional as long as you have degree and passed NMLE and you are as good as who have passed out from the best medical college in the world.

Stop thinking all this stuffs, we are all in the same boat.

I am working with some of the graduate from China, one of the is exceptionally good and is working as an assistant editor for Journal of Nepal Medical Association (JNMA) being appointed to that post at that age is an achievement of its kind for his part.

So, what I believe is its not the college or place from where you got your graduation but its you. No matter how good one's institution is its always you who make a difference.

And I beleive that there is no such thing which detiermine good or bad its just a thinking, make it so.

Keep up the good work
