just a few anatomy points on the abdomen -

-the muscle resulting from a thickening of the circular smooth musculature of the anal canal is the sphincter ani internus muscle.
-the pleuroperitoneal membranes close the portion of the coelomic cavity between the thorax and the abdomen.
-the descending colon is immovable.
-the orifices of the stomach are called esophagogastric and gastroduodenal
-the anterior abdominal wall musculature all have the ability of producing lateral flexion of the trunk.
-the omental bursa is the retrogasric space lined by peritoneum.
-scarpa's membranous fascia is continous with dartos layer of the scrotum in male.
-Parasympathetic innervation to the stomach travels via the vagus nerve.
- Sympatbetic innervationtion to the jejunum travels via the thoracic splanchnic nerve.
-ParasYnipathetic innervation to the transverse colon travels via the vagus nerve.
-Sympathetic innervation to the rectum travels via the lumbar splanchnic nerve.
- the rectum is a continuation of the sigmoid colon within the true pelvis
-the left kidney is posterior to the spleen.
-the conjoint tendon is the fused aponeurotic layers of the internal abdominal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles.
-each segment of the liver presents a portobilioarterial pedicle.
-the aortic plexus (intermesenteric and superior hypogastric plexuses) contain nerve cell bodies that provide postganglionic sympathetic innervation to tha abdominal viscera.
-the root of the mesentry is found to transverse oliquely from the body of L2 to the right sacroiliac joint.
-lessser peritoneal sac/adult bursa omentalis is a space behind the stomach.
-the anterior aspect of the duodenum is crossed by the transverse mesocolon and mesentery.
